The King is Dead, Long Live The King.

Delirium didn't like sleeping, she felt vulnerable in her mortal body and her not-so mortal mind could not switch off at all. She was constantly moving, constantly changing but sometimes her brother caught up with her. Mostly she didn't Dream, sometimes she did.

Though Samara had come to look for Severus, when a panicked looking Delirium had passed her, the little girl followed, avoiding any little spot where blood had dripped.

Was Delirium feeling sane? It was very scary at first, Samara knew.

She walked over quietly, and lifted up her poor sister's head with her hands.

"Nine is for...Samara?" Delirium said looking up at the little girl. Delirium's eyes welled up before she wiped them away furiously. Shaking Delirium took her sister's hands in her own. "They've left me. And I know-I know... everything, it hurts."

Delirium breathed deeply. She wished Samara didn't have to see her like this but the Island kept stealing people, maybe if she held onto her she would never leave her. She would never be alone. "Please, don't leave me sissy. I'm-I'm sa... how do you cope? Everything is so quiet, so quiet."

"I won't go," said Samara. It was a promise she'd made before, and not an empty one. It was a promise she felt all the way down to the ground. "And it's quiet at first, until you have new thoughts. The quiet isn't scary. Just different."

"My realm is empty Samara, even if it's a dream-" Delirium paused and shivered. She had never thought about her mortals beyond the Island but her realm was empty and abandoned and even if it was all just a dream, she would never be sure. "I think I have my own thoughts, I've had them before but mostly other peoples thoughts. I like airplanes, the peanuts and the clouds even if they are wet and noT Like cANdy."

Delirium wrapped her arms around her legs. "Have-Have you lost anyone that you thought you might break into pieces or-or maybe devolve into gaseous matter?"

"I haven't really lost anyone that hurts so much," Samara confirmed. "I never really had my parents, and this is the first place people loved me." When comforting someone else, touching was easier, and Samara petted Delirium's hair.

"I would be that sad if you left, though."

"I Love You, I have always loved you. BeFoRe and Now. I wanted- I wanted to help." Delirium said, touching her favourite mortal fondly. She had many mortals but none of them had she ever really loved as she had her special little girl who crawled and creeped and scared people. Samara had never scared her. "If I go back he's going to be hurting me again, so I'm not. Going Back. I think I'll dig further in and then I can't leave and they can't make me."

"Klaus will be in charge of the island someday," said Samara promisingly. "And I'll marry him. And then we'll be in charge, and I can keep you here forever and ever. We just have to make it that long."

"He is a very clever boy, I like him even if he doesn't like me very much." Delirium said, thinking of the Very Intelligent Boy who seemed to despise her for what she had done to Samara. And Del had never been good at explaining things properly, so she had messed their conversation up very badly. "Genii are often the closest to me and yet the furtherest away, they hang by a thread and cling to their logic and minds. Some survive with their minds intact, the others become...mine."

Delirium wrapped a piece of Samara's hair around her finger. "Forever And Ever. Endlessly here, I think I would like that and I think that is my own thought. I think- I think I don't want to go back anymore."

Samara just smiled. "He loves the me that's here now. The human me. Which is good, because at home she got so scared. And you loved the other part, and it's just not him to understand. He'll be nice to you."

Because Samara would have words with him if he didn't.

"I don't want to go home either," she said. "Sometimes I think if you want that really bad, you don't go."

"I Loved you both, my brother...my brother talked about two sides of the same coin. I think I know what he meant now," Delirium said, untwisting Samara's hair, kissing the tips before she let go. Delirium smiled softly and sadly. "I am glad he loves you and makes you feel safe and fuZZy. Chris does that but with big words and...gRowN uP StuFF."

Delirium took Samara's hand and held it in the room of her siblings. "We won't go then, we'll stay here together."

"Good," said Samara. She looked down for a moment, her eyes darkening with a flurry of thoughts. "Maybe we're supposed to be here for a reason. Maybe someday we're going to be able to help people."
