I've died before. It's no big deal.

Claire was bored and she'd had her fill of History and French. She could honestly only do so much homework. The cruel twist was the bookshelf was only offering up novels in French (Les Liaisons dangereuses???) and, like, every issue of National Geographic ever ( Read more... )

Xander walked into the rec room right when the girl on the screen jumped. He winced then watched in amazement as the girl stood up and popped her shoulder back into place. Though he wasn't exactly surprised. It's not like he'd never seen Buffy do something similar.

What did surprise him was in he walked in and saw the girl from the screen sitting on the couch watching it. And she was really cute...He shook his head. No way, not a good way to start a stay on a magical island, not with his luck. Instead he just stood by the couch, hands in his pockets and asked curiously, "Attempt number six at what?"

Claire didn't look up, she simply kept combing her dog. "To stay dead," she said, distracted by the sight of it. She remembered how Zach looked all panicked and grosse out, but that part wasn't on film.

It took another second, then she turned to look at him and her jaw dropped.

"Homigah..." she exhaled. She knew that face.

Xander frowned slightly as he looked at her. He thought the whole point of living was to stay undead...well for most people anyway...with the normal version of undead being alive not a vampire or zombie or...Wait, could she be? He looked at her again. Nah. She was definatly more of a Slayer then a demon. But maybe he'd ask Buffy to be sure.

He was about to ask, when she turned and looked at him with that weird expression. He gave her a bashful smile. "What?"

Chances were he'd be all weird like Logan had been. She learned quickly that people from tv here were actually the people from tv. She'd also heard rumors that not everyone knew they were on tv.

How weird was that?

"...Nothing," she said softly and closed her mouth. She was totally blushing. She could feel it.

Xander had heard about the whole fictional thing from Bart and he just couldn't believe he'd be in the same position. Who would want to know about his sucky life anyway? Buffy sure (and he still thought that was rather hot...) but not the Zeppo here.

And she was blushing and it was totally cute, so Xander just smiled at her in his geeky sort of way. "Nothing? You looked like you'd seen Someone cool. Since that's certainly not me, I had to ask." In fact, he even looked over his shoulder. Maybe Someone cool had passed by the door?

"Just you," she mumbled, busying herself with combing her dog (who was quickly losing patience at being groomed). "I mean...uh..." she giggled a little and let Mr. Muggles get down, thankful that leaning forward made her hair drop over her face.

Xander blinked, thought she'd said just him but then shrugged it off. She couldn't have. Probably said something else and he was just hearing it wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. Do twinkie affect your hearing? Maybe he should find out of the island has carrots...wait that was eyesight nevermind.

"Obviously we're getting no where with that topic." He smiled a friendly smile before moving to sit next to her on the couch, being careful around the dog. With his luck, it would be a were-Pomeranian...which only reminded him of tiny Oz and he tried not to laugh. He held out a hand. "I'm Xander. Freshly arrived."

Claire smiled wide and a squeak escaped through her nose. Xander! She wondered if Buffy and Willow and Giles and all of them were here, but she wasn't going to be a dork and ask.

"I'm...Claire," she replied, nearly giddy as she took his hand. She was shaking hands with Xander!

Xander wondered the same thing, though he was glad as anything Buffy was here. An older future Buffy complete with future Anya, Spike and Wesley but he was beginning to deal. He just wished people would stop looking so closely at his eyes...

"It's a pleasure to meet you Claire. After all the talk I got about the water, I was afraid there wouldn't be any girls here, much less pre...uh, nice ones." He ran a hand over the back of neck to catch himself. Yes, let's not fall over every pretty girl we see Harris. Even if she was alittle young...

"What about the water?" she asked, still beaming. She was looking into his eyes but not in any kind of strange way. Just...direct.

Which he was grateful for, since he had almost been tempted to ask Buffy if he was missing one or something after all the odd looks.

Xander couldn't help feeling slight giddy, Clarie's attitude rubbing off on him. It was nice to feel comfortable with someone in such a weird place. "Apparently it turns people gay, or that's what Bart said. And with the luck I have, I'm afraid I'd prove it right. So, pretty girls are definatly a plus at the moment...not that I don't think your cool too, because I do." He added quickly not to sound completely shallow.

If Claire's jaw could have fallen off, it would have. It had certainly dropped that far.

"The water makes you gay? Like...happy? Or like Pittsburgh?"

Xander blinked. "Pittsburgh?"

"It's in Pennsylvania," she explained sweetly.

He blinked again just looking at her for a long moment. "And this has anything to do with gay in the water because?"

"Oh...because that's where all my gay friends are from. I don't think there's any gay people in Texas. I never met any, anyhow," she said, cocking her head as she thought about it. Well, maybe Claude was, but he was English, so that didn't count.
