Lucy had always been an explorer. She'd been called a tomboy by a visiting prince once, and while Lucy had laughed, in some ways it was true. She'd rather be out doing things then at home being a proper young girl. Really, if she was a young girl, then how could she not be proper? It was another one of things she was sure couldn't be right ( Read more... )

Susan was just wandering really, when she came across a girl bouncing on a...what was that? Susan didnt recall seeing anything like a trampoline on the disc. It looked kind of dangerous. Which is probably why the girl was having so much fun.

"Hey! Be careful!"

Honestly, the most dangerous things were often the most fun. Not that Lucy consciously thought that, but it was a truth of life, especially with young girls.

Lucy laughed when the woman spoke to her so, "Of course! This is just fun!"

"What is it? Is that all it does - you just bounce?" Having never seen - much less been on - a trampoline, Susan didn’t really understand what the attraction was. You went up, and then you went back down. So what? It was hardly productive. Susan sat against a nearby tree and just watched for awhile. The girls shrieks and giggles were a reminder of home. She usually wouldn’t have allowed her students to make such a racket, but being around the girl was comfortable and familiar.

The fact that it was hardly attractive was honestly part of the reason she enjoyed it so much. When she hung in the air that brief moment before falling again, it made her feel carefree and just wonderful.

She bounced a few more times before coming to a rest, looking at the woman watching her. "Would you like to try?"

Susan eyed the trampoline suspiciously - you would never trust a device like it on the Disc. She was curious, but there was no way she would ever let herself be seen using it.

"No, you go ahead and keep...bouncing. I'll just make sure you are ok."
