Lucy had always been an explorer. She'd been called a tomboy by a visiting prince once, and while Lucy had laughed, in some ways it was true. She'd rather be out doing things then at home being a proper young girl. Really, if she was a young girl, then how could she not be proper? It was another one of things she was sure couldn't be right ( Read more... )

Pearl had heard about the trampoline recently as well, and had finally wandered over to go see it. What she found was the girl she had met a few days ago on it already, looking like she was having lots of fun.

She stood aside and watched as she jumped, not sure if she ought to interrupt.

Lucy grinned when she caught sight of the girl watching. "Pearl!" she shouted, "Come up! It's such fun."

Her eyes lit up at the invitation. She headed over and pulled herself onto the trampoline, immediately finding herself off balance on the unstable ground. She carefully got to her feet, looking a bit tentative.

"So I just jump?" she asked, clearly looking for guidance on how to use this the correct way.

Lucy nodded, holding out her hand to Pearl. "We jump, and it bounces us. Want to count from three?"

"Okay!" she said, taking her hand and clasping it tightly. She was a little nervous, but not enough to stop her. "One...two...three!"

And she jumped, nearly in time with Lucy.

It was almost in time, and as they came down and bounced Lucy laughed, grinning at Pearl. "See!" she called out to other girl, "Isn't this fun!"

Likely not proper at all. But oh so fun.

"Oh, yes!" she exclaimed, her grip loosening a little as she realized it wasn't scary at all. "I feel like I'm flying!"

"Yes!" It was exactly how Lucy would have described it. Not that she'd ever flown. There was just something so free about it she loved.

Pearl had never flown either, truth be told. Still, she had heard what it was like from Acro, who, even though he had been a bad man, had still been kind to her before he was found out.

"Did you ever go to the circus?" she asked, still bouncing up and down. She was getting a little breathless.

"No," Lucy looked curious. She knew of circuses, but at home, with the war, they hadn't been around, not that she'd remembered. in Narnia, the thought of forcing animals to perform...

Still she jumped, landing on her bottom and then bouncing back up, giggles escaping again. "Have you?"

"Yes," she nodded. "Mister Nick and Mystic Maya took me to one, and then there was a case there. We got to see a clown and lots of other neat things. Even a lion."

That made Lucy almost stop bouncing. well, as much as one could whilst on a trampoline. "I've seen a lion," she said quietly, it was almost a whisper.

She stopped bouncing too, looking curious almost immediately.

"Really? Aren't they neat?" she asked.

Lions were neat. She'd seen lions, at the London Zoo. But they weren't what she was thinking of right now. "More then that. He was everything."

"Was he a special lion?" she asked, eventually easing herself down so she was sitting. The uneven surface made her nervous about falling.

"Very special." Lucy's face lit up as she thought of Aslan. "He was kind, yet he could be terrible as well. He would always be there when you needed him, if you really believed. Even if you couldn't see him sometimes, or sometimes there may have been some doubts, or worries, still, he would be there."
