Jim could probably count the full hours of sleep he had in the last three days using only his two hands. It wasn’t really a surprise - he had expected it, even - but it didn’t stop him from feeling exhausted because of it.
Pam had fallen asleep a half hour ago. Samantha had started fussing not long afterwards, and, knowing she had been fed so recently, he doubted it was because she was hungry. He picked her up carefully and she seemed to calm down a little just being held. The lack of crying was music to his ears.
He slipped out of the room after scribbling a little note to Pam that he was just taking a small walk around the compound with her (because he knew how much she worried). He walked with her a while until he eventually wandered into the rec room. A little more rocking finally ended her quiet whimpering, and he smiled and kissed her forehead gently.
Instead of heading back to the room, he found a couch to lie down on carefully, letting the baby rest on his chest. She did not seem to mind at all and was quite content to use him as her new makeshift bed once he was sure she was safely positioned on him.
“That’s right,” he murmured, reaching up to rub her back gently. She was still moving around a little, so he knew she was still awake. He could feel his own eyes getting heavy; the lack of sleep really was finally catching up to him. “Let’s play take a nap with daddy, Samantha.”
The way things were going, he was going to be the one who fell asleep first.
[OOC: Sam's only a week old and thus pretty tiny. Slowtime and late tags welcome (since it's still pretty early here), and you all should tag in. No, seriously. :D?]
