"You aren't supposed to be here," says Geoffrey, lying on his back on the beach and lacing his fingers behind his head. This is what a man of leisure is supposed to be able to do, so here he is. He feels it likely, however, that all he's going to end up with is a sunburn

Kate actually stops short on her trek towards the water when she sees Geoffrey...lounging on the beach...and basically naked as far as he's concerned. She thinks about teasing him. God knows he's done his fair share of it, but in the end it's just too strange and at least she won't be the only one in a bathing suit.

"Hi Geoffrey," she says, interrupting what hopefully is a conversation with Oliver and not sunstroke.

Geoffrey opens his eyes and gives her a wide smile. "Hey Kate," he says, not going quite so far as to remove either of his hands from the back of his head to give her a wave, or even to shade his eyes from the sun. Instead he ends up squinting. "Heading out for a swim?"

"Something like that," she says, grinning down as she pushes her oversized sunglasses up to squint right back. "Mind if I sit down?" she asks, gesturing with her towel.

"Feel free," he says, trying not to smirk as Oliver has to get out of her way. "I'm just out here getting a tan." He can imagine the skeptical look at that, if not from her then from the other ninety-nine percent of his aquaintences. "No, really. That's what I'm doing."

"You're trying to get a tan?" Kate laughs, spreading her towel out before settling down in the soft sand. "In public, half-naked, with other people walking around? Are you okay?"

"I'm great," insists Geoffrey. "And I'm not half naked. Well, technically I'm half naked. Technically I'm more than half naked. But you seem to be implying it's suggestive, which it's not. I'm just getting some sun."

"Not suggestive, out of character," Kate corrects, pulling off her shorts and leaving her tank top for the time being. "You're going to get burned if you don't watch it, though," she comments, poking a spot on Geoffrey's arm which immediately turns white and back to slightly pink.

"It's not out of character," insists Geoffrey. "I just got married. Don't I get to bask in the sunshine a little? Get a little... pink? Shit."

"You lying on the beach, tanning, is out of character," she says, rummaging in her bag. "But not a bad thing. You deserve to relax." She straightens back up with a grin and a dingy looking bottle of sunscreen. "It's kind of old looking but it's better than nothing," she says, handing it over.

"I swear I put some on," says Geoffrey, though that was a while ago, and he's been enjoying the sunshine for... well, he doesn't know how long. "I'm not actually tanning," he admits. "Not intentionally. I just wanted to spend some time on the beach. It's a great beach. Don't you think?"

"Yes," she says slowly, eyeing him more carefully. She pokes at the bottle, making sure he knows he should put it on now. "I'm glad you're in a good mood..." she trails off, wondering if this is some kind of post-honeymoon high.

"You're looking at me like I'm a pod person, Kate," he says, trying not to laugh in her face. "Haven't you ever seen me happy before?"

Though come to think of it, maybe she hasn't.

"Yes!" Kate insists, totally caught in the act. "You just don't usually wax poetic about the beautiful beaches and sunbathe and take your shirt off in public!" she points out with an embarrassed grin. "Oh be quiet and put your sunscreen on. I'm glad you're happy and I suspect Duck is to thank in some way?"

"He generally is," admits Geoffrey with another grin. "I'll have you know I used to take my shirt off all the time. Just not when I was working. We are on a tropical island. I think I deserve the perks as much as anyone."

"You do," she agrees in a serious voice, stretching out on her back as she strips down to her ridiculous bikini. "Make sure you get your shoulders."

"You know, you're really not one to talk about going around half naked," he points out as he tries to get the sunscreen everywhere, on her orders. "I'm just enjoying my little vacation."
