It was a rather nice evening, and Hiro didn't wander back to the hut as early as he usually did, instead stopping by the larger waterfall to sit and enjoy the quiet. He found a rock to sit on and settled on top of it, letting his legs dangle down so the water could lap against his bare feet ( Read more... )

Charlie had been jogging, and she was sweaty and disgusting, and she came upon Hiro by accident. He looked so peaceful that Charlie didn't want to disturb him, so she just leant against a tree in her running shoes and her shorts and tanktop and just watched him for a moment, a little smile on her face.

Hiro didn't notice her - at first. But eventually he did feel like there was someone watching him, and he tore his gaze from the waterfall to find her just standing to the side.

"You going to come over?" he called out, motioning for her to walk over.

Charlie smiled at him, and hooked a tendril of damp hair back from her face.

"You just looked so peaceful, baby. I didn't want to disturb you."

"You never disturb me," he assured, beaming a grin at her. He moved over a little on his rock and put his katana on the ground next to him to give her room to sit.

It didn't take much urging for Charlie to cross the small space between them and sit down beside Hiro, her arm brushing his.

"I'm all sweaty and disgusting," she said, almost apologetically.

That didn't stop Hiro from shifting closer so their arms were touching.

"Were you running before?" he guessed. He knew she liked doing that, and always thought about joining her. It probably would be good for him to get more exercise.

Charlie grinned and leant her sweaty head against his shoulder.

"Yeah, I was...just a little way. Feels good to stretch out a bit."

He nodded his head. He was as used to her running as she was probably used to him training with his sword every day. "I think I might join you on run one day. If you not mind I'm slow, I mean."

"I'd slow down special for ya, sugar," said Charlie, smiling and nodding brightly.

"I'd like to run with you."

"Then maybe I give it a try," he smiled. "Worst that can happen is I not like it, right?"

"Sure, sure," said Charlie. "And, if you don't like it, we'll just have to find you some other way to work out, huh?"

She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively.

His eyebrow rose up, and a mischievous look crossed his face.

"You sound like you have things in mind already."

"Sugar, I have always got things in mind for you."

Charlie was pretty sure that, somewhere on the island, she'd just broken Duck MacDonald's heart.
