This had to be one of Arya's favourite weekends, if not her very favourite. She got to be herself, only different. And not really different, only older

"You know," Robb says absently, pausing for a moment to watch her, "if this had happened next week, you might've convinced Father to let you in the melee."

Arya flashed a wry smile over her shoulder at him, without pausing in her movements. "Might have. I doubt it, though. Even if I looked like this he'd probably still see me as ten or something."

Amusement warred with annoyance towards the end of this. The melee would have been fun.

"You're still in the joust," Robb says with a shrug. "That's impressive by itself, that you talked him into it."

"I never would have managed that back in Westeros," Arya agreed. "Probably the fact that most of the people jousting won't be expert knights has something to do with it?"

Non-experts waving lances around could be just as worrisome, but if no one with the power to forbid her entering had thought of that, Arya wasn't about to bring it up. She was looking forward to this.

"I think it's just the island," Robb says with a shrug. "Everyone's less tense. Just don't go and get hurt, or we'll both be in trouble."

"I'm not going to get hurt," Arya protested. "At worst I'll get bruised a little, and I get that training anyway."

"Good," Robb says, and flashes her a grin. "I thought you didn't like the sort of fighting that goes on in tourneys."

Arya opened her mouth a little, then looked innocently skyward and shrugged one shoulder. "When did I say that? I don't think I said that," she said, bringing all the retroactive memory-altering powers she had available to her as a teenager (just) to bear. "I might've said it's not as good as other kinds, but it should still be fun. And it's a good thing for everyone to get together and do, it can't all be plays and parties."

Sometimes you just had to try to beat the crap out of each other. Arya had never seen a hockey match, but there was a fairly good chance she would have enjoyed it if she had.

"I'm fairly sure you said something of the kind," Robb says dryly, "but I suppose you can play anyway."

Arya stuck her tongue at him, very briefly. "Thank you. This way I don't have to find a helm that covers my face and enter in secret."

Robb laughs. "You're right. This is surely better all around."
