With a huff and far too much noise than was necessary, Paige landed on the sand next into her brother, sending up a cloud of sand and a smile on her face, tossing her copies of Modern Computers down next to her.

"Ugh, now, I know that's pretty and all, but come on, Josh, play something up beat, even if it's Isty Bisty Spider or something," she complained, making a face as if it was the worst thing in the world. It was what sisters did, and she was smiling a bit too broadly for him to take her seriously.

"I'm sorry, Paige, but I don't know all the chords to 'Hey Mickey,'" he told her, grinning broadly. "Or whatever it is you kids are into these days."

She stuck her tongue out at him, like she was five years old, since sometimes she was, and they were. "'Us kids'? Last time I checked, you're still younger than me," she pointed out.

"Prettier too," said Jay, trying to look arrogant about it.

Paige laughed at that and ruffled his hair. "Yeah, yeah, better at driving the dames crazy too."

"Paige," said Jay very seriously. "If you could get more women than me, I would be very, very worried."

She tossed a long set of hair behind her shoulders and preened a bit, rolling her shoulders back. "Hey, you never know what I might do if I decided to try. I'm quite the catch, and an even better at fishin'."

Jay choked.

There was no other term for it. He literally choked on the idea of a lesbian Paige and the memory of his own turn in the bisexual thing.

The combination of his choking and the look on his face made her unable to contain herself and she just started to laugh.

"God, you'd think you'd seen a ghost or something."

"Paigey..." drawled Jay nervously.

"I probably oughta tell you something before you hear it elsewhere."

This whole thing was starting to make Paige really nervous, the kind of nervous someone is right before the other shoe drops. She's afraid of the other shoe.

"What are you gonna tell me? Just spit it out."

"I was engaged once already on this island and it was to a guy," Jay said, really really fast. "SoImightbebisexualorsomething."

Her mouth fell open and for a while Paige was gawking, at least until she realised what she was doing and the sense to close her mouth and blink.

"Wait, you what?

"I did a guy, Paige. More'n that, I loved him and I was ready to introduce him to you as my fiancee or husband, whichever came first," Jay say, clenching his jaw. It was just his sister, right?

"No, no, that's not how I meant it at all!" Paige said, throwing up her hands real quick and catching her breath and her words. "I'm just shocked is all."

"Okay," said Jay, more weakly this time. "It's just... I didn't want it to be a weird surprise that popped up. Especially 'cos he's still around."
