Chase had heard the music playing and he'd know Jay anywhere, so he found his way down to the sound of the guitar, still keeping covered up as he found Jay. "My little songbird," he mocked wryly.

"My little pony," said Jay, letting his fingers slow to a stop. Yeah, it didn't make sense, but art didn't have to make sense. And as far as Jay was concerned, Mocking Chase was right up there with sculpting or something.

Chase just gave Jay a 'not funny' look as he shook his head. "I don't think so," was all he managed as he sat down beside Jay. "Uh, keep going," he said, like he was paying or something.

Well, Chase didn't exactly have to pay. Not that anyone did, but Jay figured the guy could have a couple songs. It took him a couple of seconds, but he began to sing again, still mellow and laid back.

Chase just watched Jay, pleased to see him looking so happy and when the songs were over, he slung an arm around Jay's shoulders. "So?" he asked expectantly, awaiting an update.

"So?" echoed Jay, resting his fingertips on the wood of the guitar, feeling them hum. "Hey, aren't you the girlfriend of one of the Councilpeople? I kinda got a few things I wanted to ask about."

"Hey!" he said in protest. "Hey, you wound me. And the 'so' is in reference to you and Padme. How's that going?"

"That's what I meant," said Jay. "I kinda... well, see, she was married when she got here, you know?" To the Big DV, as Jay thought of him. "We kinda talked about having the Council draw up some papers declaring her a free woman."

"So you want to get her marriage annulled so you can swoop in and wed her?" Chase asked, grinning a little, genuinely. He was actually coming around to watching all these people he knew getting hitched.

"Yeah, but not so much with the swooping, unless this places gives me my wings back," Jay said. "And also, uh. Papers to adopt Sola." He grinned a little sheepishly at the family values of it all.

Chase was good at this now, the part where he wasn't reacting and he managed a genuine smile. "I'll see what the Doctor can do about it," he promised. "We'll talk about it tonight, even."

"You'd look after them, right?" asked Jay suddenly. "If you know. If something ever happened to me, you'd make sure they'd be alright?" He knew that Chase would, really, but he wanted to ask.

[dr_robchase]

Chase just gave Jay a dubious look. "Of course I would," he insisted, like it was completely and utterly obvious. "Don't be stupid."

"You know me," said Jay agreeably. "Dense as a rock." He didn't even make the requisite crack about Auntie Rob.

"And thick as one too," Chase agreed, smirking. "I knew I'd get all the pretty in the settlement, I just knew."

"Don't make me call you a girl's name," Jay warned. "You know I will. And I'll like it."
