It felt so good to be up and about that Satine couldn't stop thinking about getting to her feet. Resting had been the best idea, but now that her strength was returning the appeal of bed rest was quickly disappearing. She'd slept until she couldn't sleep anymore, eaten small meals and been able to keep them down, and now the urge to be up and about the living again was impossible to resist.
She'd dressed in her costume once more, it being the only thing she possessed as her own, and after reassuring she was presentable, stepped into the hallway. There were long hallways with rooms on both sides, some with doors that could close and others with open thresholds. One boasted a pool table with brightly colored balls and music came from some source that she couldn't see. A book shelf stood against the wall, with several volumes whose titles she couldn't read lined up across it.
Satine craned her head, stopping in her walk. She couldn't remember the last time she'd taken enough time to sit down and read, or a time she'd actually been able to. It didn't take long to make up her mind and Satine crossed into the room, heading directly for the bookshelf.
A History of Basketball, In the Wake of the Plague, Romeo and Juliet...
The last title was pulled quickly into her hands and Satine moved back to sit on the sofa. It was soft beneath her back and she extended her legs to a comfortable position, opening the volume in her lap.
[ Courtesan-with-a-book! She's up, about, and feeling pretty good. It's a good time to meet her, or if you've already met her and want to have a chat, feel free to come see her! ]
