Unusually, House was in the lab section of the clinic today. He'd found Greg Sanders' small supply of the new eggplant-based alkaloid painkiller, along with the notes from his "experiment" a couple of days ago

The Doctor, after class, was not anticipating finding House in the clinic with a needle up his arm, but then again, he wasn't overly surprised either. He was about to say something before he remembered that he had been warned more than once over, so he decided to forgo the cotton gauze he'd wanted.
House looked up and caught the Doctor's expression. "I'm able to clear a room now, am I?" He pushed in the plunger on the syringe and then closed his eyes briefly before pulling off the tourniquet.
"Between the fact that I get the impression you'll kneecap me, and the fact that people don't usually want other people watching them shoot up? Probably." The Doctor pushed his glasses back up his nose.
The Doctor did pause halfway to the cabinet, then resumed going over and getting what he needed first. "You know, most people would have prefaced this with either platitudes or a long rant. But you cut right to the point, good on you."
"I don't really see the point," House said with a shrug. "It's pretty obvious why. I might have added platitudes if I were telling Chase. But he's still doing a good job of avoiding me, so I get to tell you instead."
"Well I didn't exactly think you'd be chaining yourself to my door," House said, rolling his eyes. "Besides, it's not just my third wheel syndrome. Jack doesn't like it there either and I'm getting sick of him skittering out of my bed."
"With Jack," said House. "Haven't worked out the details yet, I'm letting him deal with his old place and whatever that might mean. So I don't exactly have a time frame, but I assume Chase won't let you put me out on the street in the meantime."
"Well, tell Chase he doesn't have to run the other direction when he sees me anymore," House sighed. "I guess I got my space." He would have preferred space that included not having to see them traipsing around like newlyweds, but too late for that.
