Jim hadn't woken up so early in a long time. He had contemplated closing his eyes until he forced himself to fall back asleep, but he just had a feeling it'd be pointless. He got up and got dressed quietly, not wanting to wake Pam up, grabbed his bag, and headed out.
Breakfast wasn't even served, so he made himself something out of the leftovers for dinner. The problem with getting up early was that there was so much more time he had to fill up. He considered sitting in the Council office for a while, but the thought of politics had started to leave more of a bad taste in his mouth than it used to. He was glad in only a few more days he could go back to not worrying about things and about what people thought of him.
He considered rereading the part he was going to be auditioning for later in the day, too, but he decided he had done that enough. He was to the point that the only thing he could do was wait and hope he didn't bomb.
With those options out, he was sort of at a loss. He wandered about, eventually looking to the games closet to find something to entertain him. He went through the various, random items inside, until he happened upon something buried way in the back. He smiled a little as he pulled it out, turning it over in his hands - one of the couple of bowling pins he had (attempted) to make. He knew very well why he had given up on the project - there were memories connected to it that he still felt bad about to this day - but they had faded enough to make Jim actually consider finishing what he had started.
Two hours later, the sun was up and he was sitting on the steps of the compound with Fiona seated next to him, an emptied coconut in his lap. He had put the juice into the refrigerator in case anyone needed it, and had drilled three proper holes for his fingers to fit in. He was trying to sand it down a little with the sandpaper he had found near the drill, make it just a little smoother. He knew he probably looked crazy, concentrating so hard on what he was doing, but that never stopped him from doing something before, and it wasn't stopping him now either.
Besides, it was something to do.
[OOC: Woke up with him loud pup in my head, and as thus you get an early Jim post. Feel free to tag him, new and old, ST and late tags very welcome. Come hang out with Jim and his monkey. -snorts-]
