[and the rivers shall bring forth beavers abundant]

Apr 03, 2007 13:13

Neil Bucyk was not a bad guy. He did things in moderation, liked to say that he was prepared for all (well, not all, as the island had taught him, but a fair few) things. Not a God-fearing man, per se, but God-wary man, one who had that line checked; just in case.

One never knew, especially these days, when the sky was going to open up. Rivers of blood and all that. It came with being prepared.

All things considered, he lived his life going mostly day to day, keeping content. He was good at content, enjoyed it, keeping busy, finding new ways at it all the time, enjoying it. No bumps in the road (he was a very good driver), and things were going well.

That is until Neil Bucyk, mug of coffee in hand (he was going to return it, naturally), found a beaver in his path.

He stopped. The beaver stopped. This was unexpected.

He took a step to the left. The beaver took a step to the right, blocking him. He took a step the right, the beaver moved to the left. He wondered vaguely if he moved his knees in time if the beaver would follow suit.

It was not a time for jokes. Or maybe, it was just the time for jokes. He couldn’t really be certain. What he could be certain of was that the beavers had come forth. Really.

“Huh,” he said, taking a sip of his coffee and staring at the beaver, beady eyes staring back up at him. “Very interesting.”

[ooc: one man. one beaver. one crazy item. even if you don't know neil, you should meet him. no really, you should. open to late tags and ST. always.]
