Since I was well enough yesterday to leave the clinic as a patient, I thought that today I would be well enough to go back to it as a doctor and at least catch up on administrative things. River was much less frightened of Dr. Fraser than almost any of the rest of them, simply because she was Ian's auntie. If Ian trusted her, then River did, too. Besides, she owed her an apology for letting her temper get the best of her when Saffron had come into the clinic.

"Hi," she said, quietly from the doorway. She didn't want to wake anyone up, especially Mal who wasn't complaining when he was asleep. "Do you need any help with anything?"

"Hello, River," I said, looking up from the laptop. "Thank you for the offer, but I think I'm all right for now. I'm mostly just trying to get caught up on what I missed this week. How are you?"

"I'm all right. I didn't get hurt at all. How are you?" She looked better, at least. "I'm sorry I was loud, the other day."

"People tend to get loud when they're worried for someone they care about," I said. "I've seen it a lot. Emotions run high around a hospital in a crisis - it happens." I flexed my fingers to keep my hand from getting stiff. "How is your friend?" I hadn't had a chance to read up on all the patients yet, so I wasn't sure about everyone.

"I thought he was getting better, but he's all infected. Dr. Beckett says it's just a setback and not to worry, but I can't help but worry." River glanced back into the room where the Captain was sleeping and hopefully getting better.
