Things had been a little strange lately, but it seemed things were beginning to return to normal again. Wallace doubted that would last long, not that he didn't particularly enjoy what had happened the week before. He didn't really know what to think about George, and he hadn't seen her since that day. He had considered looking for her, but it ( Read more... )

"You!" Veronica said, pointing a finger at him as she entered the room, plopping down on the couch next to him. "We need to talk." Eyebrows raised, the faint trace of a smile on her lips, she didn't even notice she sounded like Lilly Kane.

Wallace glanced up from the book, raising a brow himself. The way she was looking at him made him have a feeling about what it was about.

"We do?" he asked, almost nonchalantly.

"You didn't tell me," she accused, lifting her head. "I told you about the Sam business and you didn't mention George." Admittedly, she'd kind of just blurted out the news in a rush on her way out, not really giving him time to respond, let alone gossip.

Of course she knew. Wallace hadn't been hiding it at all, he just didn't want to piss George off if she didn't want people to know how she was acting.

"I haven't seen George since the day everyone went crazy," he pointed out. "I didn't know if she wanted people to hear about it. I think she was kinda loopy like the rest of the island. Not something I felt right telling people about without her saying I can."

Walking into the rec room and seeing Wallace sprawled across one of the couches, I wordlessly plop down into one of the nearby armchairs with a wide smirk. It's possibly a little creepy, the smirk, and he might not even know I'm friends with George, but I can't really help myself.

Wallace hadn't even noticed Neil until he sat down. George had told them they were close, so it didn't take him long to realize why he was probably getting the weird look.

He wasn't sure, though, and just in case George didn't want anyone to know about it, he played dumb. "What?"

I bark out a laugh, leaning back in my chair and folding my hands behind my head, looking amused and nonchalant and I'm pretty fucking sure whatever's gonna come out of my mouth, George'll likely kill me for.

"So, I hear you got attacked by a lovesick Georgia Lass on Valentine's Day."

"Attack is a good word," he replied, biting back a grin. "She doin' okay now? I haven't seen her since that day."
