Just when Quatre thought he was getting used to the island, it went and changed again. The sand, despite being beach rather than desert, had been comforting and familiar, and the warmth was pleasant. And then one morning, he woke up and it had snowed.

Snowed.

It wasn't that Quatre had never seen snow, only that his experience with it had been limited. After all, resources in the space colonies went to oxygen first, then light, and so on down the chain of Things That Were Absolutely Necessary. Even on L4 they hadn't expended precious energy on simulating snow. And even if they had, this wasn't simulated. This was real.

Unfortunately, it was also cold. Very, very cold. After dashing out into it to investigate, Quatre had come back inside shivering and wet, and gone straight to the clothes box, where he had started putting on whatever came to hand, acquiring a purple turtleneck, a pair of plaid long-johns, a red sweater sporting a trio of button-eyed snowmen, brown corduroy trousers, a blue wool cardigan with snowflakes around the collar, a pair of boots lined with some kind of fur, black gloves, and a long, pointed stocking cap in alternating blue and white strips with a little yarn pom-pom on the end. So attired, and a good deal warmer, Quatre struck out of the compound to enjoy the snow.

[Quatre goes outside to play in the snow. He meets Winry, who shows him her improved treehouse and lets him help her make a snowman. Raif says it's kind of like home, and they talk about where they came from, gravity, and snow forts. Duo and Quatre have a snowball fight, but Polly is not supposed to play.]
