When Pam got off work, she immediately stopped in the rec room to check if Jim was waiting for her. He was. She'd seen the new list for council before he'd even gotten out of bed this morning and she couldn't wait to see him.
"So, Mr. Halpert," she started, dropping her purse into a chair next to him, and draped her arms over his shoulders, nuzzling the nape of his neck. "How does it feel to know your wife was completely right?"
"Of course I was right. I can't believe you doubted me," she said. "Perhaps in the future you will just agree with me on instinct."
She moved around, lifting her purse from the chair, and sat down next to him, her shoulder pressed against the back of it and her legs crossed at the knee.
Leoben felt much better after his fourth cup of coffee and decided maybe he would just tell people flying monkeys had attacked him in order to explain the bruise on his cheek. "Congratulations," he said to Jim in regards to the election as he eyed the game the human was playing. The only game he knew was flying colors and the Cylon was pretty sure you couldn't play that with these cards. "What's this?"
He glanced up once he had set up his game, immediately wincing a little at the nice sized bruise. He decided it probably wasn't his business to ask what happened.
"You too," he replied, motioning to the chair next to him if he wanted to sit down. "I'm setting up a game of solitaire, actually. You ever play?"
He nodded his head. "Yeah. I needed something to pass the time. Kinda waiting for Pam to get out of work. The bookshelf is being annoying again, so cards it is."
He glanced over at Leoben. "You know any card games? It's always a lot more amusing with two people."
"This requires a party of some sort," Veronica announced, easing herself onto the arm of the chair to look at Jim's card. "You get the booze, I'll take care of the strippers?"
"Deal," she chirped. "And, I mean, the least they can do, now that we've so kindly agreed to govern them, is offer us strippers here, right?"
Flippant though she was about the whole thing, Veronica was quietly thrilled to have been elected. Despite the number of people who had nominated her, she had still been certain of a loss. Finding her name on that board had come as a welcome shock. No matter what Logan had said all those months ago --
Differences could be made. Changes could happen. Here, at least -- here, if nowhere else. That was what this place was for.
"I like your logic, Mars," he laughed. "See, mostly I'm seeing this as one step closer to our island domination. They're all putty in our hands. Putty."
For some reason, the knowledge he was being counted on for something so big was made easier knowing that Veronica was going to be there too. Besides Pam, she was by far the person he was most comfortable with. It was a welcome bit of something familiar in an entirely unfamiliar situation.

"Yeah, yeah. You were right, Pam. I admit it," he replied. "The island is clearly insane, that's how I got in."

He glanced down at his game. "Solitaire. I was going to read, but it appears the bookshelf only wants to give me leadership and parenting books."

"Hey, Dwight," he said, casually, a faint smirk twitching up on his face. "What do you mean?"

People just didn't know him well enough yet. That could be changed, there would be another election he was sure.

"I'll agree to strippers if you agree to explain to Pam if she catches us," he replied with a snort.
