The first thing he noticed was her hair. It reminded him of The Yew, the lost children with their drugstore make up and day-glo hair dye. But this woman was a little older, a little more confident and seemed a little less lost than the kids that frequented the yew. Of course, being unable to read her, he wasn't entirely sure. Maybe she was lost, in a different way.

Very soon after he noticed her hair, Ghost noticed that she was wearing a leotard printed with bones. A skeleton suit. He was fairly certain that Halloween was not for another couple of weeks, but he decided she must be extra-festive. Or perhaps she dressed like that everyday. It was never very easy to judge things like that on the island.

Giving her a wide, friendly smile as he approached her, the rainbow streamers on his straw hat fluttering in the breeze, he said, "Hello," in his kind, soft, southern drawl. As she walked closer, he realized that she looked very much like Miz Eostre, but he was certain that she was not Eostre, but another one of the island's many doubles. The island was peculiar that way.

Clementine grinned widely, mostly because she was feeling about five years old right then. That was one of the things she loved about Halloween. And pigtails.

"Happy Halloween!" She said, in lieu of 'hello'.

Halloweens at The Sacred Yew were incredible. Kinsey never put up decorations, since most of them though they'd end up looking cheap and contrived, or 'shitty' if you asked Steve. But it was the atmosphere in the place on that night, you could feel the energy in the air, even more so than any other day. The lost children came out to play in droves on Halloween, and he and Steve played the Yew every year. It was electric.

"Happy Halloween!" he answered, his voice tinkling with laughter. "You're a bit early, aren't you?" he asked curiously, deciding that maybe he'd gotten his days mixed up, which was easy to do on an island where every day seemed just the same as the last.

"Yeah, but I found the costume, so I figured, 'what the hell?'" Maybe there was something about being the only one wearing a costume so early...something about the uniquness of the whole idea that made it so appealing to her.

"I just wanted to be sure. I have a hard time keepin' track of the days 'round here. I'd hate to have missed it," Ghost said, lifting his straw hat off his head and tucking a stray wisp of white hair behind his ear.

"Its a nice costume," he added, smile bright, her excitement contagious, "I'm Ghost," he said, extending one pale, thin hand toward her in greeting.

"Clementine," She said, shaking his hand exuberantly. She hoped that he wouldn't decide to make jokes. She'd always said that it bugged her, but that was always just a little bit of an understatement. "I like your hair."

"Thanks, yours too," he said, smiling warmly, hand moving up to unconsciously tug a strand of his pale hair over his equally pale eyes.

"There's a lady 'round here that looks a whole lot like you who makes candy. I wonder if she's workin' overtime since Halloween's comin' up," he said, twisting the bright purple streamer hanging from his hat around his index finger.

Clementine's brow furrowed and she tilted her head. "...someone who looks like me?"
She'd heard of weirder things on the island, but...this was kinda weird.
