Will walked along the beach, thinking furiously. Abby was obviously frigid, or a lesbian. Honestly, how could she have rejected him like that? He'd thought they were friends! But it wasn't as if she was the only woman on the bloody island. Will just didn't know enough of them, was the problem

Bran watches Will for a moment. The truth is, after what Abby's told him, Bran is not sure he wants to so much as say hello. He could just go back to his room, in which there are snacks, reading material, and a fit boy who likes kissing him a lot, and there Bran would be perfectly happy to remain until this whole thing is over.

Bloody fucking honour. He isn't going to leave Will alone without at least checking on him, like Will did before to him. He's just not.

He jogs down the beach toward him. "Oy, Will!"

Will looks up and nods, feeling a stab of disappointment. Having Bran tagging along isn't going to make copping off easy. "I'm a bit busy, just now," he says by way of greeting, trying to make his steps look more purposeful.

"So I see," Bran says, unfazed, as he catches up with him. "On the pull, aren't you?"

Will arches an eyebrow. "What would you know about it?" he asks, almost accusingly.

[branbach]

"I ran into Abby," Bran answers carelessly, striding alongside Will, hands stuffed carelessly into his pockets. "Do not go glaring at me, Will Stanton, it is not my fault."

[llewych_will]

Will rolls his eyes at the mention of Abby. "Lovely. Already talking about me behind my back, is she?" What had he ever seen in her, anyway? "Whyn't you just go back and gossip with her some more, then?"

[branbach]

"Already covered it all," Bran answers, easily enough. "You're not that interesting, boyo, to keep us busy all afternoon. So who is it you are looking for now, with that stalking gait you are using?"

"None of your business," Will replied sullenly, having the distinct feeling he was being laughed at. "Look, did you need something?"

Bran has that way. The 'I'm Secretly Laughing At You and You're Too Plebian to Figure It Out' way. It just doesn't usually come out when he's not at school.

"Not very friendly today, are you? It must be because I'm not a girl," Bran says easily.

"Yes, Bran, that's exactly it," Will snaps, coming to a halt. "If you'd just stopped to put on a frock, perhaps I'd have more time for you."

He glares and veers away. "Bugger off, Davies."

[branbach]

"Ah, well, pity that's never going to happen," Bran says, rolling his eyes. "The frock, not the--no, either one, actually, so never mind it. What, I'm supposed to let you get into trouble all by yourself? Can't have that."

Will growls in frustration, walking faster. "I'm not going to get into any bloody trouble, I'm just going to talk to River." He shot Bran a scathing glare and added, "Alone."

[branbach]

Bran actually does stop then, choking on a very worried laugh. "Will--" He slips his glasses off his face, tucking them into his pocket. "You're going to try and pull River?" he asks, dumbstruck. "River Tam? Are you out of your bloody mind?"

"I said talk," Will points out loftily. Of bloody course he's going to try to pull River--just because Bran's off snogging boys doesn't mean he's going to! "And we don't need you hanging about."

[branbach]

"If you are very lucky," Bran says dryly, "she won't kill you. Then again, that might be quicker than her Captain killing you. I might just steer for someone a bit less deadly, myself."

"Thanks for the advice, I'll remember that," Will replies coldly. He stops, then shoves Bran. "Now fuck off!"
