When men say I'm sweet as candy It goes to my head like brandy, I enjoy being a girl

Anamaria felt distinctly odd when she awoke. Her head was throbbing and her mouth dry and cotton-filled. She ached all over and she whimpered at she sat up. "Oh, dear. What ever have I done?" Delicately, she pressed her hands to her aching head and tried not to weep as she struggled to recall what could have possibly happened that she should ( Read more... )

Romana sneezed at the smoke in the air, picking her way through the sand in her barefeet, her eyes watering. The fire was awful big and scared her slightly.

"Oh, I hope everyone's all right," she said, worrying slightly and giving the girl a concerned look. "Are you okay?"

Anamaria hesitated a moment. Lying was a sin, of course but in good cause, surely the Lord would forgive her? "Yes. Everyone is fine. There was simply a small accident, luckily all it affected was a store of that awful liquor." She shuddered delicately and smiled at the other woman, "I'm dreadfully sorry to have frightened you. I assure you that there is nothing at all to be concerned about."

It also couldn't possibly be a sin to lie in order to comfort someone.

"Oh that's good. I'm glad that everyone's all right," Romana smiled, sighing in relief. She let out a tiny giggle and waved a hand dismissively. "Oh it's all right. I feel much knowing that everything's fine."

She tilted her head slightly at the pretty woman. She sure was friendly. "I'm Ro."

Grateful for the companionship--it was dreadfully dark and utterly scandalous to be out without an escort!--Anamaria smiled gratefully at Ro and gave her a little curtsy. "Anamaria Bonney. I'm very pleased to make your acquaintance, Ro."

That was a rather strange name but no matter.

The curtsey was adorable! Romana giggled slightly and returned it, beaming. "It's wonderful to meet you as well, Anamaria. Simply swell."

She tilted her head curiously, eyes wide and feeling quite nice to have met such a nice person so unexpectedly.

Ro talked most strangely but it would have been rude to say so. Instead Anamaria just returned the smile and inclined her head gracefully. "I do apologise for my appearance. I'm travelling just now to the compound in order to seek some more suitable attire."

Romana just waved her hand dismissively. It was really nothing, people get so upset over the smallest of things sometimes. "It's all right. You're just getting fixed up. You mind if I join you?" she asked, kindly.

Having someone to accompany her would be more than welcome. Anamaria clasped her hands delightedly, quite forgetting the torch in one of them, "Oh, would you? That would be so kind of you."

"It'll be nothing, and it's much nicer to not be alone," Romana giggled and bounced on the balls of her heals slightly. She turned in the direction of the compound, her eyes adjusting to the light of the torch. It was so bright and shiny!

"Oh, I absolutely agree. Company is ever so nice. I just adore people, don't you?" She beamed.

As they walked, Anamaria fussed with her hair and clothes, trying to do her best to make herself presentable even if she couldn't avoid being immodest. Really, it was absurd that a woman of her age should be running about with her hair all unbound and wearing men's clothing. Women like that had reputations and they quite deserved them.

"I do! People are the most delightful things ever. They make me so happy," she squealed, clasping her hands together in joy.

Romana couldn't keep her hands still as they walked, she just kept swinging her hands about and playing with her braids and dress, smiling and feeling the joy of it all. Anamaria was so wonderful and so pretty. "You're awful pretty, you know that?"

Anamaria blinked at her and pressed a hand to her cheek. "Oh no. No, I'm not. I've the most awful skin and hair and goodness knows that my face could pass as a man. I wish I was pretty and blond like you. You're so delicate and sweet."
