Sophie had been wandering around the compound and was pleased to find Romana playing pool in the rec room, although Romana herself didn't look very pleased.

"Not your particular choice of song?" Sophie ventured, picking up a cue and wiggling it a little. "I play badly, but I could be an easy mark I guess."

Romana was grateful when the song came to a close and the jukebox appeared to have no other opinions at the moment. It was simply better that way. She smiled at Sophie as the final notes died.

"Not terribly, but then again, is it ever anyones?" she replied with a shrug. "It's all maths; I daresay I could play poorly to match you."

Sophie laughed.

"If it was all math, I'd be good at it," she countered. "Some of it is luck."

Romana shrugged. "That too. But really, the maths help a great deal."

"They do," Sophie conceded. "How've you been since I saw you last?"

"A little up, a little down, but over all fair enough," Romana said, racking up the balls. "How about you?"

"Mortal enemy?" Romana raised an eyebrow. "Care to elaborate?"

Sophie sobered a little.

"This man. He killed my grandfather, right? Well, a little while after I'd been here, he showed up."

Romana winced in sympathy as she stepped back from the table. "Oh, that is really awful. But I understand the mortal enemy bit and I hope that he stays away."

Sophie's eyes were dark.

"He attacked someone here. A boy. The man is a dangerous criminal and I wouldn't mind seeing him come to justice, even if the island is a bit more harsh than I would be."

"I have no doubt, that someone or something will even the scales eventually. It's just how those things work out. At least in my experience."

Romana sighed and nodded. For better or for worse that was the case.

Sophie smiled then, glad to be rid of that particular weight.

"Let's talk of pleasant things, hmm Romana?"

Romana laughed and nodded. "Let's Sophie. Such as, the weather and rainbows and who is going break."

Sophie laughed in return, eyes sparkling.

"I'll break," she said warmly.

"Excellent. Go right ahead," she said, smiling and stepping back from the table.
