The past few days have been no different for Curtis. Sure, the apartment complex is a bit more crowded than usual, and Newbie keeps trying to invite people to sleep in their suite because it's so big and there are so many homeless people laying around, but overall it's not so bad. Hope says there's a hurricane outside and so Newbie's safety proofed ( Read more... )

Cooped up indoors, with no hope of leaving again for at least a day, if not more (and given the stunt he'd pulled, Geoffrey wouldn't have been surprised if Duck had tried to keep him indoors until the sky was sunny again), Geoffrey needed to do something before he went crazy. So putting his still-damp books away, he got out Duck's old jeans and the supplies he'd gathered and started trying to put together a pair of overalls.

In any universe, there was no better place to do that than sitting in front of the television. Even if it did mean sharing space with that guy who looked creepily like Darren Nichols.

Curtis glances over as Geoffrey sits down next to him. Some people had such audacity. He watches TV, continuing to glance over every now and then, trying to figure out what Geoffrey's doing. "Are you making yourself pants?" he finally asks.

"No, I'm making someone else pants," he said without looking up. Seriously, it was a real bitch trying to meet that guy's eyes without smirking or something. "Or, well, overalls, since the pants part was taken care of for me in some factory in China." The bone needle was proving a bit trickier than he might've thought.

Curtis watches Geoffrey work. It takes some time for the thought to pop into his head, but when it does he can't help asking, "Is this something you do often? I mean," he makes a vague hand motion, "as a job, or a hobby?"

"If it was my job, I ought to be fired," muttered Geoffrey, as he stabbed himself with the bone again. He would have felt utterly ridiculous using a thimble, though, if he could even figure out how. "No, it's just something I do for the people who are willing to put up with me, in the absence of any other usable skills to reward them with."

"My girlfriend had a pair of overalls she looked cute in, could you make her some?" he asks. Curtis figures letting Geoffrey sit on his couch and watch his TV is putting up with him.

"Uh," said Geoffrey, and stared at the mess in his hands. "Why don't you see how these ones turn out first," he suggested. What he wouldn't give for some straight pins. Maybe Benton would have a suggestion for those, too. Maybe Geoffrey was going to have to learn how to bone a fish. "Then if they don't suck, I can try to make her some."

"Okay," Curtis complies, settling back into the couch. Having asked he has accomplished his Good Boyfriend act of the day and feels pretty proud of himself. "I've always preferred sweat pants myself," he comments.
