A long long time ago, when I was a very little girl in Ilo Ilo, Philippines, I woke up from a nap completely disabled from the waist down. My legs were completely numb and unmovable. Being in a town full of superstitious make believes, my mom convinced me that I was cursed by tiny gnomes because I invaded their territory (I was chasing a bird unknowingly passing their forbidden area). My mom searched and searched for a doctor, which turned out to be this older woman who lived in a clay house (including clay-like floors). This woman sat me in a chair, which was over a pile of burning coals, and chanted some prayer. About a day or so, I was up and about .. back to chasing birds.
[There were large amount of injured birds where I grew up. And I was very dedicated to curing these birds that I built a bird hospital. It was awesome. My bird hospital was basically a row of holey shoe boxes. I kept a bird in each box and there was enough room for them to eat and recover. Believe me, it worked. A typical length of a stay was a week-- and the birds were fat and healthy.]
ANYWAY, back to my condition. Delores just sent me a link about
Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Which may be a scientific explanation to my story.
After a few minutes of trying to decipher the syndrome-- I prefer my Gnome Story.
