It seems I haven't updated in a long while, but now I'm finally on holidays so I can relax a bit... I had actually tried to write a long post back in May, but when I had worked on it for half an hour it got somehow deleted and was impossible to restore, so I got pissed off and never did it again.
The exams are finally over, everything has gone well, except one teacher who says he wants to talk to me and Rocco before giving us our credits because in one exercise (out of 5...) we have some too similar mistakes. He knows perfectly that we worked really well the whole year with him and we were two of best in the course... AND he knows we've always studied together, so it's obvious we worked in the same way. AND in the last semester he gave the credits to an idiot who had made an awful presentation, she had just printed an article from Wikipedia, given one copy to everyone and read it as it was... AND the whole class was talking during that exercise anyway, it's just that we're the only two people (out of 50) he knows. AND he says he knows we're "great latinists", that we ALWAYS did his homework seriously and got top marks every time he gave points, even when I took the test in his office, completely alone! AND even if he decided not too count that exercise (which both of us got almost totally wrong because it was a REALLY difficult text, WAYS harder than anything we'd done so far with him), we'd lose just a few points and we'd still be two of the top student in the course! So in the end... we'll talk to him as soon as we get back there, at the end of October. And I'm NEVER doing one course with him again, as long as I can help it (surely not next year).
That's it, I definitely needed this rant. Also good things have happened in those months: a couple of weeks ago I was in Hannover to watch the World Cup match Switzerland-Korea and it was an amazing experience! And we won 2-0, so well, it was really a great evening! I'll never forget that sea of redcrossed t-shirts! I's a shame we got eliminated by Ucraine because of the penalties... admittedly that wasn't a great game, but our team had played really well until then! I had never seen people being so excited about football here... I had never been, for instance). Congrats anyways, guys! You gave us two great weeks!
I also finally got to know a bit better all of my fellow Classical Philology students and I have to say we're really a wonderful group! I'll miss them during this summer... Hopefully we'll manage to meet somewhere in September, but it'll still be a long time without seeing each other. It's a shame that at uni you meet people who live so far away from you... hey, I know that we're a smaaaaall country, but the mountains make journey sooo long (but honestly, could anyone imagine Switzerland without its mountains...?).
And tomorrow I'm going on holidays in France, so I hope they'll win the World Cup while I'm there. It'd be so wrong if Italy won, with Moggiopoli going... the dirtiest football of the world, World Champion? *shudders* Not to count those Italians who went around OUR streets singing "chi non salta svizzerotto è" ("who doesn't jump is Swiss" - but "svizzerotto" is quite a disrespectful way to say it... considering that they LIVE and WORK here, I think they should just shut up or go back to their own land if they hate it so much here... we can live without them!) or "solo le mucche, avete solo le mucche" ("you only have cows", to which we answered "avete solo la mafia" - I guess everybody understands the word "mafia" :P ... the same as above applies, anyway... if they want to celebrate, they could at least respect the country that took them in). Funny thing is, many of them can't even really speak Italian, being second or third generation...
Erm, I hadn't really planned this rant, but whatever... I wouldn't want to look racist, but this is one of the things that do get on my nerves.
Anything else? No, not for now! I don't know when I'll update again... but I'll see you around. Have a great summer, everyone!
