It helps to be a little Apathetic.

I don't understand why people are worried about the Desensitization of the youth. Isn't it a good thing that they become comfortable with the things surrounding their everyday lives? If people had been desensitized, then when the WTC came crashing down, people would not have panicked and rushed to harsh judgements of people they think commited such an atrocity. They would have looked at the facts, and the reasoning, and possibly not thrust us all into this hideous War on Terror. Too much emphasis has been put on the concepts of "Good" and "Evil." The world is not quite so black and white. Which is a good metaphor, since the battle is primarily between White people, and another color of people. Just because the Saudis or the Muslims attacked us doesn't mean they're "Evil" and we in response, must to the "Good" thing. Especially when the "Good" thing is destroying their armies, ravaging their people and destroying their social infrastructure, even if it doesn't live up to the Bigwig definition of Society. There's more than one way to do things. Theirs just happened to involve trying to destroy us.

But that's slightly offtopic. If we want to send children into war to commit great acts of violence, wouldn't it be in the Bigwig's best interests if they weren't sensitive to violence? All they really don't want is violence against Bigwigs. It's alright to kill foreigners and criminals, but if they appear in any way to be important or influential, then hurting them is wrong. And if you see someone hurting them, then be "Good" and hurt them back! But gently. And call it something nice, like "Pacify."
