Just got Destroy All Monsters in the mail yesterday, #9 in the Godzilla series, and finished it today. I've now seen, and own, all the Godzilla movies. I did partake in another viewing of the 1998 American version, then I got rid of it; it did not belong in my collection anymore. Funnily enough, I ordered the dubbed Americanized version of Destroy All Monsters, and then, a week later, ordered a few of the Japanese bootlegs, including DAM. Of course, they arrived on the same day. Only one survived the great DVD culling.
Going from one end of the collection to the other, it's a great legacy. 56 years. Sure, they're often cheesy, and storylines and acting can take a backseat to some all out man-in-a-monster suit brawls. But you can't fault the directors, designers and artists for putting a lot of care into their craft.
