They’re outside, with no one around to get hurt and there must be a trained sniper on the Goon Squad, and one shot would put an end to this entire thing (but that, of course, would ruin the story)

Uh... Owen called them off. That was part of the deal in #4. They don't care if Thailog was gutting Goliath and wears his head like a hat. The commandos don't care, and for that matter neither does Owen. Owen is not the Manhattan Clan's friend. He did the minimal, brought a bag for Dr. Sato to use, but that's it. But, as long as the fight did not destroy things or disturb the guests, he did not care.

And how does he still have access to Nightstone Unlimited? I doubt Demona would have allowed him anywhere near the building, or would keep Sevarius on staff after a little bit of betrayal, both financially and emotionally.

Demona is lying low. Think about this for just one minute. Robyn Correy figured out who Dominique was, turned out to be one of the Hunters and is now in custody while the city is up in arms about gargoyles. For all Demona knows, Robyn spilled the beans on Dominique. Besides, is running a corporation really Demona's style? Can she even balance a check book? Nightstone Unlimited was Thailog's baby from the start. Here's Greg's word on the matter: http://gargoyles.dracandros.com/w/index.php?title=Talk:Nightstone_Unlimited&rcid=9982

And how the hell did Thailog become an Illuminati member?

Why don't we wait to find out?

Goliath used you? If you’re designed to be intelligent, then you should’ve figured out that Goliath wasn’t using you and didn’t want to be there with you in the first place. Get over it.

Except that he did use her. Any woman, any woman in that situation would say that she was used. Goliath may have felt bad about it, but he still did it. Goliath is a great guy, a hero, but he's not a saint. And who says she's straight like Demona out of the chute? We're finally getting to know her. She's not naive, nor is she a fuck-up who blames everyone else except herself for her own screw ups.

Sorry, no, that was incredibly flaky, and way out of character for Elisa.

Maybe you don't know Elisa as well as you think. I disagree, I thought it was in character. She admitted her feelings, and then she got scared. This is not dating someone of a different race or religion, this is completely different. Yeah, we see interspecies relationships a lot in fiction, but I tend to think most writers take it for granted. They make it too easy. Honestly, I'm glad they can't procreate naturally.

You're entitled to your opinion, I just disagree with it.

- Who said Owen would’ve done it for the clan? How does allowing Thailog to continue what he’s doing in any way connected to the clan, and in any way an intelligent move? Pulling the trigger is pretty minimal, considering Owen has just rid his employer of nothing but a major security threat, especially since Thailog is running around free with guns blazing and plans scheming.

- If Robyn spilled the beans, Demona and everyone else would’ve known about it by now with news reports of prominent business owner Dominique Destine revealed as a gargoyle, and several law enforcement agencies showing up at her door (or, as the audience has just been told, Thailog’s door). And I doubt Demona could function in the role as CEO if she couldn’t balance a checkbook (I’m sure she’s learned about modern human commerce in the last hundred years). And I doubt Demona would allow Thailog to even get close to such a valuable and dangerous resource as Nightstone Unlimited, let alone live there, conduct experiments there, etc. Lying low is fine, but risking her safety by going back to St. Damien’s cathedral is just as risky as confronting Thailog, considering Thailog doesn’t have a human guise during the day (which also begs the question: has Demona not been back to Nightstone at all, not even just to shatter Thailog’s statue?)

Well, I’m glad Greg (if gdw does indeed stand for Greg Weisman) has confirmed it. But nowhere has it been stated in any canon material that Thailog solely runs Nightstone, as frankly, it doesn’t really make sense. How did Thailog come to run Nightstone exclusively, especially when he vanished after The Reckoning? Especially in less than a few days: Demona was shown as CEO during Hunter’s Moon and less than a week later, Thailog’s back in charge? When, and HOW did this happen? And how did Demona let this happen, especially since she’s still in Manhattan?

Why don't we wait to find out?
- So I’m not allowed to ask the question? Especially when it pertains to a very significant revelation?

- I never called Goliath a saint, and it seems you’re always going out of your way to make sure everyone knows that. But Delilah overreacted. Period. Blah, blah, blah, used me, used me, used me. She could have said no. If she indeed has a respectable intelligence and the freedom of choice, she should’ve exercised it when asked. She said yes, she’s just as culpable.

- I know Elisa as well as you know Elisa, from everything we’ve both learned about her from the canon material, and nothing suggests her ever acting like this, even in the face of something so momentous as a relationship with a gargoyle. Elisa has had plenty of time to think on this the entire time she’s been having feelings for Goliath; the fact she springs this on him now, just after their date, just after she confirmed her feelings for him a second time, is definitely out of character. Now please don’t label me as one of those 14-year-old girls on FF.Net, who tries to imprint an overly romantic human relationship on them and ignoring the realities of what they face (and yes, I allowed them to procreate naturally in fanfiction, but for storytelling possibilities), but I was looking forward to them actually attempting a relationship beyond one interrupted date before Elisa found the realities too much to ignore. Attempt it, break up, live a while single, then reunite. Don’t force all of that, and all the story possibilities that come with, into a single night and reconciliation that completely cheapens the entire experience. The only positive note I see is that Greg got it over with quickly.

You're entitled to your opinion, I just disagree with it.
- I’m well aware I’m entitled to my opinion. Good for you for disagreeing, and I'm glad you disagreed in a thoughtful, literate response. Thank you.

- Well, it's always possible that Xanatos still has uses for Thailog. He hates waste. When have we ever seen Xanatos kill an enemy? Why waste something that may eventually become a useful resource? It's exactly why he's never killed Goliath or his clan even when Owen suggested it. Hell, he's obviously already found a use for Coldsteel. I'm sure he knows that Thailog is never going to work for him, but that doesn't mean that Thailog won't unintentionally provide Xanatos with opportunities to expand his power base.

Personally, I love having two of the most Machiavellian scheming villains ever created in the same comic. It will be fun to watch these two play off each other as the book progresses. I especially love that Greg is putting the emasculated, out of character Mr. Sappy Good Guy Xanatos to rest that TGC forced upon us, and has seeped into the fandom.

- Greg said at the Gathering when asked that Demona has not been back to Nightstone Unlimited at all since "Hunter's Moon". But, again, how do we know Demona has any real interest in managing a corporation? In "Hunter's Moon", she was using it to create the CV-1000 Carrier Virus, so she could commit mass genocide. Maybe it's usefulness was at an end. Now, she might eventually have a use for it, but remember who we are talking about here. Demona is paranoid to the nth degree, and has always been her own worst enemy. She does not look at the big picture. She's a fuck up. Hell, she may not even know Thailog is alive yet.

- Yes, GDW is Greg Weisman. His middle name is David.

- Didn't say you're not allowed to ask the question, but I am sure an answer will be forthcoming. Obviously the Illuminati think Thailog would be very useful as a member.

- Always going out of my way to make sure everyone knows what? I'm not one of the Goliath bashers. Not anymore, anyway. Once, I was. Then, well, I got over the whole "cheer on the bad guy" rebellion phase, and have come to like and appreciate Goliath a lot. He's not my top favorite, but I love the character.

- The fandom is so split on this, but yes, I do think this is perfectly in character. She was always the one who tried to shut him up whenever he wanted to talk about their feelings. She always denied those feelings, never wanted to think about it. And yeah, part of her always wanted a normal life. I think "High Noon" illustrated this. Then, come "Hunter's Moon", her feelings come to a head, she can no longer deny them. She tries, gets scared, messes up, and she needs to be smacked in the head to finally realize that she loves him and has no choice in it... and that smack in the head is the sight of him bleeding to death in the castle courtyard.
