Just found out about the riot in Vancouver and saw some pictures - and they pissed me off.
I certainly don't approve of riots, setting things on fire, and looting to begin with [I always thought it was appalling when Halloween in Madison would turn into a riot, too]. But sometimes, the anger behind those actions make sense - sometimes people just decide they've been oppressed and silenced long enough and they're fighting against something real the only way they know how to at the time.
But a bunch of completely privileged people [okay, yes, I'm sure not everyone there could be classified as "privileged," but on the whole, Canada doesn't quite have the same issues as, say, Egypt] acting this way - making trouble and destroying property - because of A HOCKEY GAME...is just disgusting. It just mocks those who have legitimate reasons for feeling angry enough to get to that point and are not just doing it because they lost a game and are drunk and think it would be fun to set strangers' cars on fire.
