Hey look! A distraction!

Feb 02, 2010 00:10

Okay, so, the best medicine for canon-induced depression is to distract myself with something else. A new fandom perhaps? *looks up at icon* Not in this post. As indicated by my result in the Fanfiction personality test, I am a "True Fan" (and we should all take that as Word of God /sarcasm). However, I do prefer writing speculative fics that do not blatantly contradict canon in any shape or form at the time of writing. Even if the canon itself makes me want to pound my own head in with an anvil.

With the airing of "The Secret of Chromastone," and the subsequent shattering of whatever hope I had for writing Fragmentation (baw baw baw), I needed a distraction. A couple of SMS's to the BF during lunch time led to a rather cracky AU concept the called: Omni High. Someone on FF.NET probably already did this idea. I wouldn't know. I've stopped bothering to look because there are no Mytrax fics in them ;A; at least, none that wasn't written by me, hime, or Blouper :/

Disclaimers: I know next to nothing about the American High School system. This is all from TV shows, so I'm likely to have GLARING errors and inaccuracy. But hey, this is just a concept that I'm likely never going to actually work on.

It got started when I was texting him that I was playing with the idea where all the alien characters in Ben 10 (shut up, Alien Force, I don't like you!) were human and working in a high school. None of the main cast is in it, however, because they main cast are already human. Or at least human in appearance. Also, since it's set in Ben 10, they're still in middle school XP

So we have Vilgax as the Vice Principal. He's scheming, strict, mean-spirited, and while he genuinely doesn't like hearing kids at his school got hurt on his watch it's not because he's concerned about their well-being. No, he's concerned about how this will reflect on his career. Because he is totally gunning for future Board of Education member or at least Principal of Omni High. He's excessively sadistic when it comes to punishments, and if the board hadn't banned physical reprimands ages ago, he'd very much like to personally be the one administering them.

Standing in Vilgax's way of climbing the career ladder is Principal Xylene. Yes, lizard lady who bested Vilgax in the series by stealing the Omnitrix and shooting it off to Maxwell on Earth. Here, she oversees that Omni High doesn't blow up from the shenanigans of both students and faculty. She runs a tight ship but has her fair share of trouble-makers and hard-headed members on her staff.

One such hard-headed member is their head librarian Azmuth who also doubles as the school's IT head. Knowledge + Technology = perfect for the creator of the Omnitrix. At least to me it is ; 3; He doesn't have an assistant this time around, mostly because he drove them all away with his narcissism and arrogance. Also, he's been on the staff the longest and has been offered the position of Principal several times but he's denied it. He's a recluse and prefers to deal with computers and books rather than people.

Omni High has, so far, two Science teachers: Aloysius Animo and Myaxx, basic science and advance placement respectively. Yes, yes, Animo is human but he acts weird enough to be an alien. Plus, I want to see the old Animo. Not the oh-so-tappable D'Void who's pretty much devoid of all that made Animo, well, Animo. Aloysius never wanted to teach anything but Science, biology and zoology specifically. He's known to have his classes dissect a frog and then have them put it back together. He also keeps a jar of formaldehyde in his desk, despite constant reprimand from Xylene. Confiscating his jar does nothing, except pissing him off and having the school overrun with lab mice, frogs, and other various creepy crawlies.

Myaxx is the more "popular" of the two, simply because she doesn't smell like she lives in a pet store. She used to work in the IT department under Azmuth, but transferred to Science as soon as a position opened up. Her temper is second to Vilgax's, but thankfully, she's far more restrained when it comes to dealing with misdemeanors. Usually, she assigns the trouble-makers extra Gym rather than detention.

And we have our Gym teacher/Coach person. I apologize for the stereotype propagation of bounty hunter beefcakes being jocks and Gym teachers. If you have a better suggestion for what position Tetrax can play, I'm all ears :D Tetrax is more drill Sergeant than teacher. He teaches by example and will repeat the exercise as many times as necessary to get his students to pass his class. He doesn't tolerate slackers, and he doesn't tolerate insubordination. So when his, um, "lady friend" sends delinquents to him for disciplining, he's extra tough on them. And no, he doesn't care if you're a cheerleader, on the student council, are rich, are the child of some powerful diplomat, etc. You are not above his rules.

Of course, it's hard to tell who runs their students more ragged, Tetrax or the other gym teacher Tini. A winner of the Iron Woman seven years running, Tini is not someone you want to mess with. Despite the whole Amazonian warrior going on, Tini has a soft side that her students have seen, especially whenever her husband pays her a visit and fusses that she's overworking herself. Most students wonder what the heck she ever saw in her husband, the school's math teacher Synaptek.

Synaptek seems to have a perpetual stick up his ass. He's strict and a real stickler for the rules, some even joke he'd make for a better bureaucrat than teacher when it comes to following instructions. But he's passionate about his job, he sincerely believes he can make a different, even if it means having to deal with the snide comments behind his back or the mockery whenever his students think he's out of ear-shot. The students used to whisper that he was really a robot, until they saw him around his wife.

Ultimo is the History teacher. Which suits how he knows the Galactic Enforcer handbook by heart, memorized every single bylaw and subsection and etc. Ironic how he's far better at enforcing the letter of the law as opposed to its spirit. Even more ironic that he applies the exact same sentiment and methodology when teaching history. Thankfully, his charisma and good looks keep the class from falling asleep, despite having to memorize dates and only realizing the significance of the historical events after they have the pop quiz.

Gluto is the Geography teacher. I was seriously tempted to make him the bus driver, buuuuuuuut that would make his appearances too few and too short. Fics need MOAR GLUTO! As the navigator, it makes sense that he knows the layout of the land, the borders, the highways, the mountains and seas. He understands the formations and ridges and he can explain these things to his students, provided they ask the right questions. While he will take them to the place of learning, he knows whether the students will want to learn is out of his hands.

Camille is the Art and Music teacher, though she's better with clay and sculptures than with paint an instruments. Recently, her husband Joel (who works elsewhere) has started to drop her off and pick her up at school rather than letting her come home on her own thanks to her ex-boyfriend stalking her on campus. Tini and Tetrax have her back, though.

Vulkanus is the enterprising school physician. He has a small convenience store in his office, though most of the sales are done under the table and with the other students. He hides his wares behind fake book jackets, in false desk bottoms, and is pretty secretive about the operation. He is, however, a certified physician and he does know what he's doing when treating injuries. Thankfully. Because Xylene doesn't want any problems with parents suing them for malpractice. She has enough problems as it is.

The person in charge of the cafeteria is Z'yskayr a.k.a. Ghostfreak. He believes himself a culinary genius and runs something akin to a Hell's Kitchen. It is not so much that the quality of food is terrible, but that anyone who dares question the integrity of his meals is met with his Hellish Wrath. He has an entourage of three sous chefs, an Egyptian, a Native American Indian, and an Englishman. THREE GUESSES WHICH ALIENS I'M TALKING ABOUT!

Sixsix is the foreign custodian who speaks with a funny accent, making him unintelligible to readers but everyone else in the school seems to know what he's saying. Go figure! He also has an inferiority complex with his "older brother" Sevenseven, whom believe to be a figment of Sixsix's imagination.

I'm sure I'm missing a fuck-ton more jobs in a US public school and I may have added one or two that shouldn't be there, and do I apologize for that @.@ But this is certainly cracktastic and distracting XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

catch22, no-talent-hack, omni high
