So I have a question. What if I LIKE canon and I LIKE the canon family dynamics? What if the thing that interests me most is Al and Scorp in their 20's as an extension of the world created in canon? How different does it have to be to count as AU?

Agreed. Can we just change the situation? Like, non magic? Or something like that but their family is all the same?

As I told Bryoney, you can of course keep the family dynamics the same. It gets hard to define what we mean by AU, as what's the difference between AU and AR? Would just making the canon non-magic but keeping everything else the same more of an Alternate Reality than an Alternate Universe? It honestly might depend on what you have planned. I could see how there being no magic at all would be considered an Alternate Universe, as the only thing left over from canon is the time period and the character dynamics. As long as the project is interesting and realistically keeps the characters in that setting, I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed, in that context. I can't speak for the mod team as a whole. I would like to say that keeping the canon the same with the same family dynamics but just non-magic should be fine, but again, it might be playing with that fine line of AU vs AR. We'd really prefer to see something beyond a "standard" AU type of fic...we'd really like people to explore other settings and how characters would react

Ok, I've done it again. The whole "no signing up for anything new until all my other projects are done", but then I see THIS!!!
