Well, a lot in my life is changing very, very quickly. I've known for a while my current job was not really sustainable; it wasn't getting me anywhere, the environment was not the best, and the pay was not covering the basics I needed it to. I'm saying these things in the past tense because I'm handing in my notice today. I'm also leaving my apartment of four years and moving back in with my parents. It's not precisely ideal, and it's happened very, very fast, but I've been offered a library assistant's position there, and with a significant cut in living costs, the lodging situation should afford me enough savings to move to Oz in a few months. Living there is something I've wanted to do for a couple of years now, and this should get my savings where they need to be to make that happen.
Silver linings.
Anyway, the next few days are going to be a whirlwind of everything collapsing at once. To that end, I have some things that I'm not going to be able to take with me. Is there anyone on my flist who would like (or knows of anyone who would like) some craft supplies? I've got several yards of cotton broadcloth, various colors, quite a bit of scrapbook paper and stickers, and some knitting supplies (needles in various sizes, stitch counters, crochet hooks, knitting scissors, and yarn - some acrylic, three skeins of dark grey, high-quality 100% wool). The paper I can recycle or donate to my daycare, but the knitting and fabric stuff I really hate to see wasted. If anyone's interested, please let me know as soon as possible, and we'll work out the details. I'd like to say it's all completely free, but depending on where the happy crafter is, I may need a small contribution to cover shipping. I'm not looking to make money on this deal, though, I just don't want this stuff to languish in storage or worse, be thrown away.
Thing two, if we are on thing two, is a request for all the good vibes, energy, and prayer you guys can send my way. This move is already hard on me, and it's probably going to get worse. I love my family, but there are a lot of issues tied with going back that I won't get into now. Suffice it to say I'd be very grateful for all the encouragement I can get over the next few months. I've come to rely on my friends so much over the past few years, and if there's anything I've learned, I know that having people who care about you makes all the difference in a tough situation. I'm always amazed by how blessed I am in my friends; thank you for keeping me going, guys.
