1. I'm still not sure whether I should sign up for Yuletide this year (I'm not feeling all that confident or excited about writing lately), but NGL, the chances went way up when I found
this. I even banged out a hundred words of bullshit about elephants to test it out.
KITTEN.
2. My beautiful new hardback copy of End of Term, which I obviously had to buy when the glue went on my paperback copy, arrived after spending a worryingly long time in transit from Australia, and I have been hugging it and calling it George. But somebody please take away my wallet if I ever start talking about replacing my Girls Gone By reprints. The glue on those is FINE. (But it's so pretty! *_* It barely even seems to have been read, which I'm going to tell myself is because its last owner was like me and not because it actually hasn't ever been read.)

I finished Deep Space 9 a couple of weeks ago and my takeaway from that is a) Bashir and O'Brien are in love and 2) CARDASSIANS ARE ALL MY FAVOURITE. DAMAR. How so horrible yet boring in previous seasons and so awesome now? GARAK. I nearly cried during his last scene with Bashir. DUKAT... well, Dukat kind of goes off the characterisation rails, but he had six seasons of being amazing?
4. (I forget when this was, but a few seasons ago. More recycling of old drafts!) Gul Dukat: 'Allow me to introduce Coronis, our Political Officer observer from the Obsidian Order.'
If the dates worked, I would think Barrayarans were Cardassians with the serial numbers and latex make-up filed off, not Klingons. Ezar-era Barrayarans especially. It's a much chillier, more secret-police-y sort of militaristic society than Klingons come across as - Klingons always seem to be enjoying themselves, or at least they shout and stomp around as if they were, whereas nobody on Ezar's Barrayar was having any fun. And the resemblance only gets stronger with the resistance against an unstoppable interstellar empire of weirdass genetic tinkerers. I don't really know where I'm going with this, except that I would hate to live on either Cardassia or Barrayar, but damn, fucked-up militaristic societies make great fucked-up BAMFs.
5. I feel like I should have a #5. Have a blurry one-hand pic of
the triffids I am nurturing at the bottom of the steps:
