'Letting teachers decide whether to use national standards is like letting cops set the law.'
If we're doing analogies, I have one: Forcing teachers to implement national standards against expert advice is like making cops enforce policy that is counterproductive and has no basis in evidence but sounds good to the lowest common electoral denominator and directly harms groups the LCED dislikes or doesn't particularly care about.
