I'm not picking sides- I just want fairness

Can I vent or something?

I told myself I wasn't gonna be all political on here.... but I think it's fun keeping up with the campaign this year, and I guess it is because of this that I get tired of the ignorant people. People that think they know everything and then don't watch the debates or news or anything. I think this sparked when I was looking at some comments on YouTube after I watched a SNL video this morning and this 15 year old girl was upset because she thought she kept up with the campaigns and thought everyone else is ignorant because Obama is "muslum" and is going to take away our freedom and kill us, and that we should look it up because it is fact. ...Oh good god. I also have a friend who already sent in her absentee ballot and is for a candidate but has no idea what's going on in the election and can't give anyone a valid reason as to why they're so for him.

See, my biggest issue is not over who people vote for, it's how they have already made up their mind to whom they are going to vote for long before the candidates were even chosen at the conventions. I mean, people can vote for whoever they want if that is who best represents their judgment and vision for the country, but it agitates me when people don't pay attention to what is going on and is so biased towards their party that they only vote for who was nominated to their party. I guess I get that from my dad who is a staunch Republican and will vote that way regardless if an unqualified or bad person is up for election. The same goes for any die-hard Democrat; it's just too dangerous. I think it also leaves room for error because you don't double check yourself every now and again, no matter what party you're in. Sometimes I think people should not be allowed to vote who are uneducated enough to know what they are voting for- why does age alone decide? ...You're right, that's unfair, but I really wish our country wasn't becoming so full of highly uneducated people that pay more attention to about what club Paris Hilton is at or what new comedy is airing, rather than the fact that the constitution is being shredded or that the government is corrupt.

The other thing that highly bugs me... where are all the other candidates? The media has it all one-sided. I dislike that everybody is thinking that there are just 2 candidates and that there's only the Republicans and the Democrats. The media never used to be this one-sided before. I mean, even Ross Perot got decent coverage. The Independent and Green party candidates should be invited to the speeches too and should at least be mentioned when covering the election. Also, the media should not play favorites or tip-toe around one candidate in general.

And by the way, Obama was NOT the first African American to have been nominated for the presidency... Cynthia McKinney was nominated to the Green party weeks before the Democratic convention (also the first woman to be nominated to office), but I guess nobody wanted to disrupt the media balance to let people think that if you wanted to vote only because of race or gender (both are also highly dangerous reasons to vote for someone alone) that you actually had options this year. ....man, am I turning into a Hufflepuff or what? But no, I really do think that it should be a fair race and that people should take away their biased veil to weigh ALL campaign sides evenly.
