BUT I THOUGHT THIS WAS AN ART CLUB.
I not going to label names (not that it matters. Who reads this? XD). But anyone who knows the clubs I'm in on DA and reads my posts on TE may catch who I'm talking about.
DeviantART has updated quite a bit recently. One of the nicest new features is their commune/clubs. It's now a whole lot easier to keep track, understand and keep things organized with whatever your main focuses or interests that you are in. Perfect for fandoms to use. I've found many great artists as well as others who have discovered me, it's been a lot of fun. Some of the clubs I'm in are HUGE (a few with over 2,000+ members! D8) and because of that, they tend to be more restrictive to what get submitted and when. Which I feel should be done with all clubs anyways, I watch a lot people so getting over 100+ deviations a day is normal. I don't need a load of WIPs or half hazard work crowding my deviations. I want to see good, complete works my fellow fans have created.
And when I say created I mean they drew the damn thing from scratch.
Now this club I'm having problems with isn't one of the larger groups of 1000+. The fandom itself isn't big (or at least, not obviously so) so rare OTPs are even rarer to find. I can understand their cry for more pictures, but the answer I promise you is not photo-shopping other people's art and making damn wallpapers. DA already frowns upon people who claim artwork that isn't theirs. What makes you people think it's acceptable in what is supposed to be an fandom ART club? Dammit, I should be complaining that not enough people know about wonderful *insert show/pairing/etc here*. Not begging people to actually DRAW.
I'm not sure how to tell this to the founders this without sounding like a stuck-up prude. It doesn't help I haven't submitted anything to them yet (don't worry, I'm working on it). But really, I don't care if your the worst artist in your math class. The creator of this manga in question isn't even a great artist. Oh no! Was that too harsh? Common people, really. Yes it's fun, it tells the story well, but she's got a long way to go. Just like me, just like my friends, and if you don't pick up a pen/pencil/tablet/marker/SOMETHING.
This wallpaper stuff is fine, there are some really nice ones. But if it's not a collab it doesn't belong on DA, and it certainly doesn't belong in an art club either.
If anyone is reading this, are you having trouble like this in your fandoms? Have you tried combating it or are you confused like me?
