Seriously, when was there an age staple on stuff you were allowed to like? I was sorting through my deviations that have been piling up (as they do) since the last couple of days, I come across a very nice APH fanart of a bleeding Gilbert. And in the artist's comments, I came across a line I see WAY too often in ANY fandom.
"I'm *insert age here*. I know, I'm too old for anime!"
WHAT.
I can get someone feeling strange when you are reading/watching a story that was meant for a younger audience. Hell, I was baffled when I went to see Ponyo. It took me 5 min in the theater before it sunk in that I was surrounded by young, tiny humans and a few more minutes to understand why they where there (yes I'm in an animation age ghetto myself, but in the other direction). But other then the brats that wouldn't shut up I liked the movie.
If you like something, you like it. It shouldn't matter how old you are. Do you know what that sounds like to me? "I'm a girl. I know, I'm the wrong gender to like Death Note!" Death Note was written for the 13+ MALE audience, and I never hear females tossing out their manga after they discover such a thing. What makes age so special?
This girl claims to be 21. Guess what? My mom and dad are double your age. They RAISED me on this stuff. They still love it. Hell, they even love Hetalia. Despite the fact that my dad's race has been shown as a cowardly pasta eating, German loving freak (not to say my dad isn't).
You people who stop loving things because you keep getting birthdays, have failed to understand what enjoyment is. I'm going to keep playing my Pokémon whist you bitches complain about wrinkles.
