placement, week 2 + sexy photos
Hi there. It's update time. I have a full day off today, thats an extremely liberating thought.
I guess I will now talk about how my second week of placement went. We actually had youngsters there this week and classes started. My start of the week was not good. I was still feeling anxious. because I didn't really understand what I was expected to do. I still dont really have any idea what I am doing but its gotten a little better because I'm just going with it.
As far as my supervisor has told me, my main objective is to create relationships and connections with the young people. And so I've been doing that by just getting involved in things. In the back of my mind I feel kind of like I'm cheating cause I'm getting to do all these cool things. But I justify it by reminding myself, that this is how I get the students used to having me around, and gaining their trust so that when shit flies in other areas of their lives, they feel like I am someone who they can come and talk to about it.
But yeah.... the stuff I've been getting up to this week (once I let myself enjoy it)..... awesome! I mean you must remember that this is not a normal school. It's a flexi school. They dont exactly follow the regular school subjects. So this week I've gotten involved in fitness, horror movie and circus. The first is something that I need... the second two are things that I love.
And the youngsters (i dont like calling them kids, and I'm getting tired of calling them young people) that I've been getting to know are terribly interesting. I was especially worried of how I would get along with the teenage boys, that we wouldn't find any common ground... but no, you just show them some respect and attention and they will respond, usually quite surprisedly (obviously they dont get this sort of attention from "older people" very often) and enthusiastically. I had quite a cool conversation with Woody the satanist during Horror Movie subject as he showed and explained all his tattoos to me. And Buzz... well you could just see the pride on his face as he finally managed to teach me a new fire-twirling technique in Circus, especially after I thanked him and gave him full credit for my improvement. And Mr Potatoehead.... he had a great time making fun of me during Fitness (cause I've never done a gym session before) but I was delighted when he came up to me afterwards and congratulated me on doing so well on my first time which lead into a nice conversation about him candidly telling me how well he is doing after his Anger Management course he took over the holidays.
these little indicators make me feel a little more stable in my role at the school.

the only downside is.... I am still so fucking sore after that gym session (that was on Wednesday mind you). They work you hard. But hey, if I keep it up for my entire placement... I might actually get fit. And its FREE! can't pass up that opportunity. ;)
And now onto other things. As my last post said, I went and saw Fame. I have a mixed review of it. Some parts I really liked, some parts were really really boring. I loved ALL the dancing. I was pleasantly surprised by how well Timomatic did in his performance.
My two crushes BJ and Talia blew me away. Charlie looked awkwardly hilarious every time I spotted him. Goddamn Talia is gorgeous.
But surprisingly the standout performer of the night for me was Camilla. The fiery redhead from season 1 of SYTYCD. Whenever she was on stage I couldn't take my eyes off her even though she was only part of the chorus. She has such an animated face that I feel absolutely sure she will make it as a principle one day. I wish I had photos of her.
As far as singing goes. I liked the Spanish chick and the fat chick. I wanted to strangle that "quiet, drama chick". Her character was so annoying. My bro tells me her character is much more endearing in the movie. And the "diva off" between the two teachers left me very underwhelmed.
Hee hee, if you havent seen Fame and you havent watched SYTYCD Aus before then you will have no idea what I am talking about but eh, I still had a great night. Wearing my new sexy leather jacket.
