Under the cut is a picture of the fabric and pattern I'm using. The pattern is super-old (aparently my mom used it for her bride's maids' dresses... O.o), but mine'll be more successful than her's were, I think, 'cause I'm using the right fabric. It's just ordinary cotton stuff (broadcloth? What is broadcloth, anyway?), but that's what it calls for.
I adore this fabric. I was looking around for something nice and unobtrusive, and found this:
And fell in love. <3 for vines. They're the only things I can sketch consistently and not get frusterated.
So, as soon as I finish my mockup/dress (I like my mockup fabric so, if it turns out well, I'll wear it) of The Fifties Dress (A.K.A.
Vogue 2903) I get to start on The Vine Dress! yay!
As for the 50's dress... As I was sewing the front "straps" (if you don't bother with the sleeves, 'cause you're checking the waist fit, you end up with straps) to the back "straps", I ended up sewing the front straps and back straps to each other.
It looked rather odd when I tried it on.
Perhaps I'll take a picture.
