it's the end of the century.

woke up this morning and thought i heard geese outside my window. upon reflection, it was in fact a crow. i think my sleep-addled mind was just reflexively grasping for any sign of spring. but that's all right, anyway. the corvidae are my kind of people, and geese are not known for hanging out in osborne village.

besides, today the sun proved that it can emit heat, and not merely light. definitely a good sign. i wandered around downtown gathering up books and tiptoeing through puddles. a day like this makes you feel like everything just might be okay after all. (nevermind that i woke up at noon and it's five o'clock and i haven't written a word yet.) my sense of the weather is of course overestimated; i want to sit on a patio with my book but that's not quite feasible yet.

i dreamt last night that they were turning lower fort garry into canadian disneyland because the conservative government had decided to privatize parks canada and we just weren't profitable. i had to be cinderella. all i can say is, we'd better not put a tory majority in, because i have a knack for premonition.

i might just need to go out and get one more taste of the sun before it sets and i get started.
