In Which I Know That I Made the Right Choice
So today I was sitting at the car wash, waiting on the guys to finish cleaning Maike (my pretty little red Ford Taurus) and reading The Iron Kingdom. My initial plan was to brush up on my Russian-Prussian relations so I could write an accurate historical fic about how Prussia handed off one of his princesses to be married to Tsar Peter (as a gift to a certain friend) until I got sucked into the chapter about the three Silesian Wars. Now, I have a fairly firm grasp on what went on and why Prussia decided to go to war with Austria after agreeing to the Pragmatic Sanction, but this just blew my chocolate covered mind!
To be specific, this line here:
"Why did Friedrich invade Silesia and why did he do so in 1740? A banal answer to this question would be: because her could."
Instant brain explosions abound, right? I can tell you all right now that I had never been so proud to be a Prussia fan than when I had read that about Der Alte Fritz. Like, aisde from all the legit good he did for his country, that had to be the best recognition of his greatness I had ever seen. I mean, there were so obvious political reasons for the invasion, but come on! That is just boss!
Anyways, aside from my historical fangasming at the car wash, I now will never have any doubts about my choice in favorite character from Hetalia again. Also, I will be doing a cosplay of Der Alte Fritz as well...Maybe I'll get it done before ALA? 8D
