Isn't there a rule for people stuffing others into lockers, beating them up, and such?

Expulsion for repeated offenses?

Haven't read the handbook but I'm sure it's standard for most establishments.

[ooc; massive back tags on all entries after work today ;; which I must be up for in...3 hours so /screams @///@ ]

Heh...I wish there was...if there are rules, though, they're not really well enforced...

[Hanna laughs weakly.]

Trust me, I know...it sucks, but...well, we just grin and bear it.

Something will have to be done.

People being picked on like this isn't something to simply bear...or to grin about for that matter. You shouldn't have to.

Yeah...yeah, I guess, but there isn't a whole lot you can do. It's not so bad, after you get used to it...

[He sighs a bit.]

I mean, it's just bullies...

And one day they may very well be working for you, but you shouldn't have to put up with this until then.

The earlier they learn to control their tempers the better.

That, or find another outlet for it.

Haha, I doubt that. I'll probably end up working for them, but at least by then they might outgrow beating people up...

[Hanna just shrugs a bit.]

I've put up with it since I was a freshmen. Really, after the first year you can at least find out where to hide properly...

...You're not the one being bullied, are you? They usually don't hit girls...

[...holy crap, he's actually talking to a girl.]

Apparently some of this going unnoticed is due to low faculty numbers, but it's not an excuse for those students acting the way they do. Technically they shouldn't need to be policed.

If they want to beat someone up, the least they could do is pick on each other and save everyone a lot of trouble.

[ Pause...and this is said with a mild sort of pride. ]

No, not me.

Well, it's just the pecking order. Someday they'll learn they're wrong, but right now...

[He shrugs again, moving to scratch at his back, where some nice new bruises are forming from an earlier encounter with the bullies.]

Well, that's good...I mean, I don't mean that like you couldn't deal with them, I mean it's good that they're not bothering you...wait, I mean...

[Hanna blushes and shuts up.]

...Sorry. I'm not really the best with people.

Yes but the sooner you let someone know they're wrong the more likely they are to turn over a new leaf. The longer you wait...the less likely they will, even if you're as reasonable as can be.

[ She gets a bit riled up there, not flustered but certainly determined about it, and then backs down a little, because it's not Hana she means to argue with, and they're on the same side, after all. ]

Don't apologize. I don't think you're half bad. Better than those bullies.

It's probably why they beat people up. Makes them feel better about themselves.

At least for a little bit.

I...I guess...

[He smiles a bit at Alice. She's nice.]

Well, that could be a reason...I mean, I always thought they probably had good lives, with homes and money and parents and jobs and pets and friends...that sort of thing. But even bullies have problems.

...if you don't mind me asking...who are you standing up for? It's...it's really nice of you.

Bullies have problems, I'm sure, but it's no excuse. You don't see the lot of us running around and locking people in supply closets.

[ She pauses, frowning, because she never did find the other redheaded boy, but she knows it was him they were picking on. ]

I didn't think of it as right or wrong, honestly. It was just something that I wanted to say to them...for...I don't know why really. I suppose to let them know what they're doing to people isn't going unnoticed...and that it's the bad sort of notice to be taken up on.

I think the boy's name is Tarrant.

[He shrugs slightly.]

That's true. But...I don't know. Bullies are...they have reasons, I guess. And people like me are easy targets.

That's...that's nice of you. Really nice!

[Hanna lights up at the mention of Tarrant's name.]

Oh, Tarrant! He's one of my friends, he's great!!

[ She smiles softly. ]

He seems kind.

[ Er...though she wonders briefly if the 'easy targets' thing applies mainly to those red of hair... and Hana may notice her eying him a bit curiously, off in her own wondering. ]

[Hanna grins, before frowning slightly.]

Is there something wrong? My hair isn't on fire, is it?
