Keyboard, coffee and cigarettes. Let's see if i remember how to do this.

So, it's been a while since i had anything to say in here, but now that i have certain comforts, i'll make an effort to reform old habits. Things got a little hairy there for a little while. After Margeds departure, my old housemate turned out to be a crazy person (not as in "Oh that's a peculiar quirk", i mean i called mental health services on him and left less than six hours after the crazy appeared), so i spent a while living with an old friend from highschool. I also changed jobs and am now a computer and TV salesman again, having found a good niche, gotten an apartment, and welcomed the return of Marged who is currently on a work call before we head into town to get her some of the trappings of residency.

Twelve months ago, i didn't know this point in existence was possible.

Marged is settling in in her own ways and at her own pace, very differently on a permanent scale from when she was here for two weeks. It's a difficult process to watch someone you love go through, the emotional upheaval and discomfort and only being able to offer so much help. I try to remind her of her strengths, and reassure her against her percieved failings, and make life as much like the home she's used to as possible. I know she'll pull through, but right now it's rough.

As for myself, i'm loving it here. This update is coming from my ex-government issue desk, in the spare room of my apartment full of geek shit, cookware, and communist propoganda, and thus coming way easier than from someone elses couch. There's a liquor store around the corner that stocks mostly microbrews and international beers, and both a chinese and a thai place down the road from it, with a pancake diner two blocks away. I'm writing and drawing again and looking to start painting and woodworking when i can start buying the materials. Marged has okayed a MAME cabinet in the loungeroom, so that is priority one after buying a microwave and new refrigerator. I just have to decide on the art. I'm thinking Streetfighter.

I've been in a difficult position at work. Through natural selection and attrition, i am gradually becoming top of my department. I'm not entirely comfortable with that, but it's nothing a few training sessions with the major reps can't fix. Other than that it's the same old retail routine. I try to mix it up a bit. Everything is clearly labelled with the major specs, so the only advantage the salesman has over the customer is familiarity. We get tired of the usual questions pretty fast, so when one elderly couple were doing the old "Plasma or LCD?", i said "Let me check", wiped my finger across the screen, then licked the tip and said plasma. They asked how i knew, and i said that because plasma panels are 600hz native, they leave a slight electric tingle that the sensitive nerves on the tongue can detect. I proceeded to demonstrate on a few other sets, and left them to wander around. I'm the best there is at what i do.
