So I was going to update about the homestay, but I decided I really cannot convey the humor and absurdity of the experience online, so I'm saving that story for when I see you all again.
Instead, I will tell you a random Stonehill-related story. I was just coming out of a class-time nap (see... same Audrey) and I was buying tea at Smokey Joe's in one of the academic buildings, because that's what you do in Ireland -- drink tea between classes. So there I am, all sleepy and dazed, and I happen to be wearing my Stonehill sweatshirt. So this guy, also buying tea, turns to me and says, "Oh, you go to Stonehill?" My first reaction is, come ON, you're Irish, you cannot possibly have heard of or been to Stonehill. But he had. He spent the summer in Easton! Weird. So I talked to this really cute guy named Collin for a while, and he knew all of these places near Stonehill and it was fun. I thought it was ironic that this cute boy should approach me when I looked frumpy and lazy, but also that it was only because I had my frumpy sweatshirt on that he talked to me at all.
Btw, kids, here, a school sweatshirt not only immediately IDs you as American, it also makes you the sloppy lazy kid. I was told the Irish kids would dress super nice for class, and while they don't dress up as much as I thought, if you happen to wear a comfortable sweatshirt, you feel like the worst dressed kid on campus. Kinda sucks, but doesn's stop me.
Ok, enough. Ha, what with being in another country, wouldn't you think I'd have something interesting to write about? But no, sweatshirts.
