EW’S Rumors & Innuendo
In the onslaught of the impending Apocalypse, as the agents of Heaven and Hell collide here on earth - two hunters, two vessels, two Winchesters... become one? If anything can distract a person from the end of the world as we know it, it’s this. Usually, the opening credits to CW’s hot hit show Supernatural goes a little something like this: The show’s name flashes on the screen, the action starts and the muted credits proclaim that the show stars: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, etc., etc. On last night’s eagerly-awaited opener for Season Five: ‘Supernatural’ blazed across our screens, the action kicked into gear, the credits rolled and - thanks to TiVo and the internet - gave every Sam and Dean and SamandDean (oh, come on, you know you go there... and frequently) fan(girl) a heart attack - just before ear-splitting ‘squees’ and vehement exclamations of “What the [insert expletive of choice here]?!?” rent the air across the globe. For last night, the credits announced its stars as: Jared Ackles-Padalecki and Jensen Ackles-Padalecki (and do you really care about the etc., etc. at this point?). Now, while the actors in question are known for their pranks both on-set and off, this seems a bit much, even for them.
So, does that mean it’s true? Have the stars of Supernatural - the two male leads, who play two brothers on the show - tied the knot? After years of rife speculation about the exceedingly close friendship between the two actors, which has had co-stars and friends alike (off-the-record, of course) shaking their heads in baffled wonder, and which fans of the show have heartily endorsed and supported and written fan-fiction about from Day One (on every record (read: internet site), of course, tin hats firmly in place), this comes as the most shockingly unsurprising news ever. Also not surprisingly, both Misters Ackles-Padalecki were unavailable for comment, as were any representatives from the show or the Network. So EW turned to the next best thing and called Perez Hilton, who praised the show and CW for supporting the actors, and when asked for his opinion, succinctly stated: Oh honey, this was as inevitable as the Apocalypse.
In related CW news, the gossip mill is spinning off its axis with talk of Michael Rosenbaum bringing his legendary Lex Luthor back to the sets of Smallville. Neither Mr. Rosenbaum nor his agent could be reached to confirm these rumors, however, our Vancouver correspondent was able to talk to Superman himself who smiled that gorgeous smile of his, crystal clear blue eyes sparkling, looking delighted at the prospect of working with his on-screen arch-nemesis again, when he declared: If that’s true, then it’s the best news I’ve had since he left the show! Fans will be excited as well; the chemistry between the two men has always been the stuff of legend. It’s certainly a bit of good news for the Smallville star who recently split from his wife of several years, and is now officially a bachelor again. Ladies, start your engines; this last season is revving up to be a blast!
