I joined the
50bookchallenge a week or so ago. The goal is to read at least 50 books during 2007. I used to keep a running list of everything I read, but haven't bothered in a couple of years, so I thought this would be a fun way to do that. I've posted to the community twice so far.
Of course, being an intermittent spaz, I forgot to cross-post to my own journal. pthhhh...
Anyway, here's my first post...
Since I often have my nose in a book, this community was a no-brainer. ::grin::
I've finished four books so far this year...
1. Dashing through the Mall, by Sherryl Woods, Darlene Gardner and Holly Jacobs
I like to read holiday-related fluff every year; this was one of two that I started over Christmas and New Year's.
2. Storm Front, by Jim Butcher
The first in his Harry Dresden series. I'd listened to the audiobook a few years ago, and decided to read the "book book" prior to the premiere of the TV series on the SciFi channel. I have a few more from the series in my TBR stash...
3. Frommer's Ireland 2006
I'm gearing up for my second trip to Ireland in late May. Woooo hoooo!
4. Climbing Brandon, by Chet Raymo
Just finished this one this morning. It's subtitled "Science and Faith on Ireland's Holy Mountain," which is quite accurate. It's a highly-readable little book, blending science, faith (both Christian and pre-Christian) and Irish history, all centered around Mount Brandon, County Kerry. I enjoyed this one immensely.
I'm also making my way through a collection of Sherlock Holmes stories, reading one story between books--sort of like a cup of sorbet, to cleanse the palate...
And here's what I posted today...
5. Thomas Cook's Drive Around Ireland
More research for the May trip. Nice suggsted touring routes. We'll probably ignore all of them and do our own thing, but for someone who wants a structure to follow...
6. Fool Moon, by Jim Butcher
The second in his Dresden series. Just finished it over my lunch break today! Who knew there were so many different ways to become a werewolf? *grin* I really like the Harry Dresden character. Unfortunately, I fell asleep during last night's new episode of "The Dresden Chronicles" on TV. Fortunately, the Sci-Fi channel will repeat it about 100 times before the next new epi!
And here's my cool little meter thingy...

Of course, the problem with joining this community is that I'm coming up with this enormous list of even more books that I want to read. It's bad enough having a "to-be-read" ROOM, when most people only have a PILE. I'm now using the library's website to reserve books...
Ah, well, it keeps me off the streets... *grin*
