i went to the SPCA yesterday, and donated all the food and cat litter i had to them. they ladies in there remembered me, and asked why, so i told them what had happened with isobel. they were shocked, and offered their sympathies.
they were all very nice about it, and even offered to help me out, in the case that i wanted to adopt another cat. the offer, they said, stands until i'm ready.
at first, i wanted to blame someone, anyone for her dying the way she did... then i realized, there's no way the SPCA could have known anything like this was wrong with the cat. her condition could have developed afterwards, and there would be know way to have known prior. so i just let it go.
i feel i did the right thing here. i intended to go in and tear them a new asshole, but ended up being very calm about it, told them what had happened, and then gave them her things.
i mean, they did take care of her up until the point i had her... and she was happy there as well. so they're not bad people, they were just unaware. i wasn't swindled, i just got shortchanged on time with isobel.
i guess that's pretty much it.
but it does make me happy that the SPCA is willing to help me out, next time around, as a form of (i wouldn't call it compensation), but sympathy/kindness.
