Soooo...

I never got around to trying out those new natrual skin care recipes. And then the more I thought about it, the less excited I was to put egg on my face. Although I am far from being a vegan and or vegetarian as of right now, I am still in the mind set of wanting to avoid using animals and their by products for basically anything. The problem I am having with actually sticking to my guns on this is due to convenience....but I must say, it doesn't seem very convenient to seperate a yolk from from its whites to mix up and slather on my face when I could very well use that entire egg to provide my insides with some much needed protien, and find something else to make my face perty...So I just didn't do it.

I'll tell ya what I did do though...

I have been on the search for all kinds of natural alternatives to all the bullshit products we use to clean ourselves with...And I don't mean looking for "natural" products to buy..Although I think brands like aveda, burts bee's etc. are a good start for people trying to get away from all the mainstream products that are ruining our bodies from the outside in, I myself am looking for things that I can use that I already have sitting in my cupboard or fridge, or freezer, or whatever...you get the drift. I'm looking to be as self-sustaining in this as is currently possible. Plus I really truely believe in the powers of the earth, and enjoy the energy that is built when I prepare different recipes from raw materials all my own.

I've been experimenting with all kinds of different things, but have fallen short in the face department time and time again. I decided finally that I am going to give the Oil Cleansing Method a good strong attempt. I made a mixture and tried it out. DAMN. My face in and of itself has not felt this nice for months, and to the touch is pretty satisfying as well. Paul just got home, and said my skin looked like it was glowing!! I am going to start out doing it two times a day. Not only were the end results pleasing, but the whole process is rather relaxing, and all pampering feeling...

What I used:

  • 60 ml Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 10 ml Vitamin E Oil
  • 4 drops Tea Tree Oil
  • 3 drops Eucalyptus Oil

  • Now I did NOT use all of this by any means...just about a pearl size amount, I massaged into my face and neck in upward motions while I sat on the couch. I massaged the mixture into my face for a few minutes. After I felt sufficiently 'ssaged, I ran a cloth under some hot water, wringed it out and then placed it over my face to steam, I repeated this step a few times because I was looking for a real good steam and the heat disipated from the cloth pretty quickly ( i am considering next time maybe doing a tented steamed inhalation of hot water and peppermint oil for extra steam and uplifting effects). After I had applied the cloth a few times, I wiped my face with hot water....I did not splash any cold water, although I agree that would be of benefit...just didn't feel it. And once my face dried, I didn't feel the need to moisturize with more of the mix...it felt perfectly balanced.

BTW..the most common basic ingredients for this Oil Cleansing Method are Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Castor Oil. The Olive Oil is used to moisturize, and the Castor Oil to cleanse. But since I haev sensitive skin that tends to dry out easily, and all my resources pointe dout that Castor Oil is rather drying, and also didn't see any Castor Oil in the house, I chose to go with more Olive and replace the CO with th etwo essential oils I have that have cleansing/healing properties...If you are interested in trying this out at all, I would be sure to make a mixture that best suits your own skin type...

This has really made my day. I have always had great skin, well since after middle school that is, but since I got pregnant my body has gone crazy hormonally, and not only have I been getting unusual blemishes but have become super duper sensitive to alot of different things...This has been pretty hard for me to cope with because my skin has been so easy to manage for so loong....But...

I am feeling very confident in this new regimen, and cannot wait to be positive of its effects!! I will probably still do a week or bi-weekly masque of some sort for extra oomph [maybe not..who knows]...but basically I am just really looking forward to having a fucking method that works and that I don't have to stray from....yeay. Oh yeah, and that I can be sure is not giving me fucking cancer. I hate cancer.
