Character Name: Misa Amane
Character Journal:
the2nd_kira Canon: Death Note (Manga)
Point in Canon: A few seconds after the Yotsuba Arc.
Age: 19
Birthday: December 25
Appearance:
+ Her style and image is Punk Lolita or Gothic Lolita. Her clothes are
Lovechild Boudoir or
Steampunk inspired.
Misa Amane is an example of the quote, "Don't judge a book by its cover."
In the beginning of the manga, Misa wore her long blond hair in adorable jinkies. Her eyes are the color of light brown and she is quite a tiny girl. She is only 5'0" but that includes the 2 inch heels. The artists of Death Note said that when they thought of Misa they were trying to make Misa look like a Japanese icon/ idol. They gave her the color black and pink and dressed her in gothic lolita outfits. The gothic lolita outfits fit the dark atmosphere of the manga, but it also suits her personality. Even though her outfits are quite adorable, they reflect Misa's inside dark personality.
Photographers say that Misa looked like an angel and Matt commented once (Jokingly maybe) that Misa was a cute Japanese girl. It also seemed that she was quite popular and quite good at what she did. Misa is a model and fashion icon, so she is always conscious of her looks.
Misa looks very innocent and people would find it hard to believe that an adorable and cute girl like her killed thousands of people while kicking her legs... as if she was just doing her homework. She doesn't look like the type to hurt a fly. Another skill that Misa takes advantage of. When Misa isn't acting, she is very expressive. You will really be able to tell if she is happy, angry or just pissy.
Reference Picture Abilities:
Misa has two powers in her canon. The first are her Shinigami eyes and probably one of the most popular in her fandom.
It was what made her identifiable and memorable on the because of the circumstances of how they are acquired. Her shinigami eyes allow her the ability to see the person's name and their Death date. However, she will be unable to see the death dates of those who own Death Notes nor the death dates of the real shinigamis. That is how she found Light Yagami, the first Kira. He had attempted to conceal himself among his classmates, not knowing that the whole details about the eyes. The shinigami eyes are acquired through a trade. The eyes are yours in exchange of half of the person's lifespan. Normally, you hesitate before making such a trade but Misa didn’t.
The Second is the notebook that gave her the name, “The Second Kira.” The Death Note. By default, the person whose name is written on the Death Note will die after forty seconds. A person is also able to control the circumstances of a person’s death if specifically written on the notebook.
Personality:
Misa utilizes her looks and charm in everything she does. She is a very cute girl and she knows it, so she is very confident that she can get away with anything even murder. Because of her cute looks and adorable personality, people underestimate how intelligent she really is. She isn't as intelligent as her male castmates, but she was intelligent enough to elude even the local police. She is much more careful than a lot of people, even Light at first gave her credit for. What makes her interesting is that what Misa lacks in intelligence, she makes up in what some of her male castmates lack. Those are her: Willingness to act, motivation and Social skills.
She dresses in dark lolita clothes and calls herself, "Misa-Misa" or "Misa-chan" because she knows it is cute and simply because she likes it. She has the strangest taste. She likes the dark and cult. Her room is decorated in black and blood red colors with creepy voodoo dolls, candles and crosses on the shelves. It is laughable to find religious artifacts in her belongings since Misa doesn't really believe in God. God killed her family. She doesn't believe in an all powerful being that would let her family die that way. If he was so all-powerful, why didn't he save them? She had been a good girl... so why? She also loses faith in the justice system. Why? Because they had let her parent's murderer free. She had seen her parents murdered right in front of her and they still let him go because there was not enough evidence. In her eyes, they helped the murderer kill her parents. She won't forgive them.
She is very caring and loyal to the people she chooses. If it means helping a friend, she wouldn’t mind giving an arm as a sacrifice. She is very obsessive about things she wants and believes belong only to her. The frightening part of her personality. She doesn’t even care about the consequences as long as she gets the results she wants. She is being used but she doesn’t mind and makes it very clear to Light that he could use her.
Her prayers were answered when a savior came. This savior is "Kira." Kira had killed the murderer that she could not kill herself. It was a miracle. Kira had come to save them all. Kira became her God.
Strengths:
* Her Death Note (That she thinks doesn't work.)
* Shinigami Eyes.
* Her willingness to take action.
* Cuteness.
* Her irresistible charm.
* Good acting ability. You don't really know if she is being honest or not.
* Her sincerity to Light. (Is this a strength or weakness?)
Weaknesses:
* Naivety.
* Her selfishness.
* She won't hesitate to kill, even her closest friend.
* She takes very dangerous risks. For Light.
* Her sincerity to Light. (Puts it on both.)
History:
Misa's real story began when a shinigami, Remu came to her, bringing with her a 'Death Note.' There was a story behind that notebook. It started with another shinigami named, Gelus. Gelus had started watching a human girl and fell in love with her but she was to die soon. even Gelus couldn't believe it. The girl was much too full of life. On the day that she was scheduled to die, Remu watched the girl with him curious how the girl was going to die. Out from the shadows, a man came out. He too was in love with the girl. The girl politely turned him down, but the man angrily screamed that if he couldn't have her no one will. He lunged at her with a knife, determined that they would die together. Gelus, not wanting the girl he loved die so horribly, pulled out his Death Note and killed the man before he could hurt her. The girl got away safely, but Gelus... turned to ash. This is how Remu discovered how to kill a shinigami. A shinigami's job was to take life away and Gelus had saved a life. In doing so, his life was taken as the price.
The girl that was rescued that night was hers, Misa Amane's. After that incident, Remu gave Gelus's Death Note to Misa, the girl he died to save because she thought that it was only right. When Misa got the Death Note, she knew what she wanted to do. The girl wanted to find 'Kira' and thank him. So she concocted an elaborate but well planned scheme to find him. Misa traded with Remu for the shinigami eyes. The price is half her lifespan. L deduced that she was not like the first Kira, she was named "The Second Kira." Not long, she found him but something changed in her plans. The second Kira fell in love with the first who turned out to be Light Yagami. Yes. She fell in love with the first Kira at first sight.
She told Light that she would do anything for him. Die for him. Misa was a romantic and the type to fall in love blindly. She thinks that was a way to show how much she loved him and hoped that some day he might learn to love her. That was when Light decided to use Misa to further his goals to become the god of the new world. He didn't like her at all. To Light, Misa was no better than other killers even though she was doing it for him.
L's intelligence, however, is far more superior than hers. She was caught and tortured for many days, but Misa would never betray Light. She was willing to bite her tongue off and die for him. L stopped her. When she had enough, she told L to just kill her. Remu could not stand to see Misa this way. Misa gave her ownership of the Death Note to Light causing her to forget everything about the Death Note, anything related to it and lost her shinigami eyes. Remu asked Light to save Misa. She saw the pureness in Misa and grew feelings for her. Even though it was annoying, Light said goodbye to Ryuk to begin his plan to save Misa.
The Yotsuba Arc began with the birth of the “Third Kira.” Misa and Light both lost their memories of the Death Notes. Light had relinquished his ownership of the Note as well. When he did, his innocence returned and he lost his drive to become the god of the New World. L kept them both locked up for weeks. He wasn’t convinced that they were not the First and Second Kiras. It was a surprise to L and his team when Kira began killing again but L was still not convinced. After weeks of isolation, there was no change. Kira kept killing. L decided to give them a test. Light’s father was used. He drove Misa and Light to an isolated spot and said that he was going to kill his son and himself. Misa and Light were terrified, at that time they thought that they were really going to die. Souchirou became relieved. They passed the test and proved that they were not the Kiras. If Light was the First Kira, he would have killed his own father. Misa would have done the same and killed Souchirou.
Light began to work alongside with L. Misa was placed under constant watch. Later, the team discovered something odd about Yotsuba company. Its rivals were falling one by one. Matsuda, discovered their ploy. He gives them a fake name and introduced himself as Misa Amane’s manager. The people of Yotsuba were intrigued. Misa Amane was the suspected Second Kira. They were hoping to use her. Misa willingly volunteered to become bait for Light. Misa met the executives of Yotsuba to audition for being the new face of their campaign. By this time, she was gaining much popularity. News of her arrest elevated her popularity. She regained her memories thanks to Remu.
With her and Remu's abilities, L died. During this time, Misa traded for the eyes again. To save Misa though, Remu died. The shinigami could not kill Light even though he tricked her because Misa would become sad. Light and Misa began living together after that. For five years, Light continued L's work and Misa continued being Kira while working to become an actress. Then Near and Mello appeared to stand in Light's way. Near's ingenuity cornered Light, so he asked her to give up ownership of the Death Note with the promise of marriage.
She did, not even thinking about the years of her lifespan that she gave up already. For her, Light was always worth it. In the end, Misa was not even able to see Light's passing. She had heard from someone (Matsuda probably) that Light was gone. With no reason for living anymore, according to 'How to read 13,' Misa hanged herself on Valentines day the year after Light died.
First Person Sample:
Hello? Is anyone there? Is this thing working?
Where----? Where am I? Where is Misa?
Light! Where are you, Light?
[ Brief pause ]
L, if this is another one of your jokes this isn’t funny and Misa is not laughing.
Misa wants to go home!
Misa wants to see Light…
Light must be looking for Misa. If this isn’t L, Mr. Stalker! Mr. Stalker are you listening? You see---
Misa already has a boyfriend and he is probably worried sick about me. Let me go please? Misa will give you one of her autographed posters!
...
Alright! How about Misa's swimsuit posters too! Will that make you happy?
Third Person Sample:
That morning, Misa didn't really want to get up. It was one of those days that she wanted to curl herself up in bed like a kitty. She was feeling so tired at the same time, it wasn't a bad feeling at all. It was the same feeling she got after a few hours working out in the gym. It felt very refreshing but now she just wanted to laze around in bed, listening to the birds sing and feeling the soft sheets under her---
Misa's heart almost stopped she realized that she was lying down on unfamiliar-feeling sheets. She knew very well that she did not own these sheets without even opening her eyes yet. When she didn't see her vanity mirror when she opened one eye, she knew that something was wrong. Thinking that it was a dream, she closed her eye again willing herself to wake up from this possible nightmare. Unfortunately the view did not change when she opened her eyes again.
"Where... am I?" she thought sitting up slowly. As frightened as she was, she was still very tired. "Why---"
Misa hugged her legs to her chest, trying to herself as much as she could, praying that this was all a dream or that this was one of L’s idea of an elaborate joke. She wanted Light. This wasn’t funny. Where Was Light? The first thing that came to her mind was that someone took advantage of her drunken state and took her to a... cheap hotel? Or was it a little bit expensive? But one thing was for sure---
"This is not Japan anymore!"
No skyscrapers. No passing cars. No sound of honking trucks. Okay, so maybe she didn't like seeing that part of Japan, but it was home.
She began frantically thinking of possible answers for this. A few rational ones and a few not so rational ones. One of them was the possibility that she was kidnapped by a crazy and tactless fan, and took her to----
Took her to where and that was the question.
Where was Remu? Why wasn't she hear with her? As owner of the Death Note, she wasn't allowed to leave her side, right? She had no time for this. She had a mission to serve Kira. There was no time to play doll for an old geezer or for any person... for any reason. There was still too much to do back home.
Kira.
Misa Amane, the Second Kira had to thank 'The Kira.'
"The note---"
She turned around and looked at the bed again, searching for any sign of the Death Note. Her fear was that someone discovered that she was the Second Kira and had plans with her. Misa was praying that whoever kidnapped her didn't touch it. Remu. The person would see Remu (wherever she was). She couldn't let anyone touch the Death Note and live to tell about it. She would rather die, but not without taking the kidnapper with her to Hell.
There wasn't any sign of it but she did notice something left on the table beside the bed. "A cellphone? Hurray! Misa's saved." Except, it was such a weird-looking cellphone. She had no idea how to use it. It was a really weird model. After a few seconds of pushing buttons, the device seemed to began to work.
"Hello? Is anyone there? Is this thing working?"

More Information in Wiki. Notes:
Misa will still be carrying her Death Note that she received from Remu. It doesn’t work, but she brings it to have a connection with Kira/Light. She also has a crazy, “I-will-die-for-you” type of love for Light. That is something everyone already knows about though.
