2019 fanworks round-up
In 2019 I posted one fic, and it's one I'm really quite proud of: the things I've almost told you (got7, jjp genderswap), the direct sequel to lezgeddit that I somehow tricked myself into writing. It took me over a year to write it, and in some ways it ended up a very personal story. Honestly though, I just love my lesbian daughters and their circle of friends, and I'm incredibly proud of myself for sitting down and finishing this fic. I also wrote porn for the first time! Exciting stuff. :D
Now on to the podfic! I posted 14 of them in 2019, including my ITPE gifts.
I'll Be Your Man (Seventeen, Wonwoo/Mingyu). This was a bit of a monster, and it took me over a year to finish, but I'm still very proud of it. This story was one of the very first that I read when I got into this fandom, and it holds a special place in my heart for that. Also it's just really fucking funny. Who doesn't love a bit of Enemies-to-Lovers through Fake Dating?
Creation Stories (Max Gladstone's Craft Sequence, gen). I finally contributed a podfic to the Awesome Ladies Anthology! It was a goal of mine, and I'm glad I finally found a story and prepared it in time to join. The Craft Sequence is full of amazing female characters. I really wish more people would write fic about them.
Children's Card Games (YOI/YGOTAS, Victor/Yuuri). This technically should go at the end of the list with the other multi-voice projects, but I did the narration for this one and edited it, so I figured it deserves its spot here. We recorded this ridiculous crossover at europod friends 2018, and it was an absolutely hilarious experience. I'm also pretty pleased with how the cover turned out!
Here Comes A Thought (Stray Kids, Minho/Jisung). Ah yes, the first of my SKZ podfics, with many more to come. I really fell head-first into this fandom in 2019, and this was the perfect choice for my first minsung podfic. Despite some difficulties (namely the fact that skz don't do love songs), the music choices for this turned out so well. Grow Up is forever linked to this story now, at least for me.
to me, you're so beautiful (GOT7, Mark/Jackson). Anna came to visit me, so of course I made them record kpop podfic with me. XD I think our voices were perfectly suited for this soft story, and I'm glad I was able to record something for this pairing.
It'll be fun, she said (Overwatch, gen). Another in-person collab that was really fun to record! Anna did all the work on this one, making the cover, editing and posting.
A clear call that may not be denied (Ocean's 8, Lou/Debbie). Another one edited by Anna! I'm glad I finally got some femslash up on myy AO3 this year, honestly.
only you, always you (Stray Kids, Minho/Jisung). This absolutely darling podfic holds the record for fastest podfic permission I've ever received with an amazing 5 minutes. And I was so happy about it because after reading the fic I was desperate to record it. The language of it is so beautiful, I really just adore singsungie's writing.
Kill Me, Kiss Me (BTS, namjin). I actually recorded this ages ago (I think back in 2018), but only finished it in fall. It was good timing though, because I really missed namjin and just wanted to get something done. And after a string of more serious, calm podfics, I had a great time working on something more comedic.
something like home (All For The Game, Neil/Andrew). This was recorded for knight_tracer as a pre-europod gift, and finally gave me an opportunity to record All For The Game podfic! I love those kids, I really do, and this fic is a wonderful glimpse into their future.
bury me in your memory (Stray Kids, Minho/Jisung). I was a bit sad about not preparing any pitches for europod 2019, but somehow I still managed to make someone record podfic for my OTP with me - thanks to the wonderful idella for agreeing to it so spontaneously! For this one I finally got to use the Goblin OST as music for extra dramatic impact, perfect for this fairy tale full of longing.
coral knuckles (sweet and a little psycho) (Stray Kids, Woojin/Chan). Oh boy, coral knuckles. What can I say? I was obsessed with it for months, and incredibly excited to work on it, to the point where I more or less finised it in 3 days. Honest to god one of the best things I've ever made, and I can't wait to post the other parts of this series.
if this is how real feels (TWICE, Sana/Dahyun). I'd been thinking about recording TWICE fic for ages, so when I saw it on my recipient's letter, I decided to take it as a sign and finally go find a story to work with! There is barely any angst in this, and yet I kept thinking about how it was sadder than my usual works - which tells you more about the type of fic I usually go for, rather than this wonderful fic about two girls who find comfort in each other within the struggles of idol life.
life comes at you fast (BTS, Yoongi/Hoseok). I adore outsider POVs, and I adore awkward Jeon Jungkook. This was a sweet and funny little fic that I was very glad to have found for my recipient, and the cover turned out to be an unexpected favourite!
